New Head Coach and Your Preference?

I'm on MM's Shaka Smart bandwagon. I'd like a talented, youthful college coach with this team. There aren't many entitled vets playing serious minutes that would undermine him, and I think Davis would make sure that he's got our coaches' back (also wondering if that's part of the problem currently).
I'm not opposed to the Karl/SVG route. They've each had their individual success and had their images tarnished unfairly.
Karl had to deal with Melo, over-performed with the pieces he get back, and didn't have a single star player when he got to the playoffs the last few years.
SVG had to deal with Dwight Howard, an immature man who acted like a 14 year old boy. We've seen Dwight mock Kobe when they were teammates. If he's willing to do it to a living legend, I can only imagine what a prick he was in the locker room to SVG.
I do not want to bring in another promising assistant personally. Maybe CMW is too fresh right now, but I don't want someone coming in and trying to emulate a successful coach and pigeon holing himself into that style of play. Look at the failures of the BB tree in New England. Different sport, same principle.
If we must hire an assistant at the NBA level, I'd much prefer someone who's played in the NBA as a PG (Brian Shaw-type hire comes to mind), a guy who understands how to get the ball to his most important players and control the point of attack on defense. NOT ADVOCATING JASON KIDD before people come rolling in here saying that. That was a dumb hire. I'd prefer someone who's spent time away from playing the game and learned through being an assistant.
Mark Jackson is somewhat of the exception here. However, he spent 8 years watching the game (and every team) from an outsider's point of view.

Yeah, let's try the more often than not failed method of expecting coaches from the college ranks to be successful in the NBA as head coaches.

can we get Lebron as a player/coach?

Shaka Smart would be fine by me. It would at least be creative.

How many offers has Shaka Smart already turned down?
The guy loves it at VCU. I don't think it's about the money for him. He loves being there.

That's my big fear as well.

Bwahahahahhahahahahahaha there's a big difference between a young, creative coach and bringing in an old coach set in his ways like Petino.

I hoping for SVG no more experimenting coach have someone who knows what they're doing. If we hire Avery I might just throw up for a week I don't like how close he's getting to the owners. I just know he's trying to move his way into this franchise with the home town appeal.
