if anything it means they’re keeping their guys and getting them a coach more suited for vets

Warren, Levert, Sabonis and Brogdon are all moderately high usage guys in the low to high 20%. I'm not saying there aren't enough balls to go around, but they have a lot of redundancy if they're fully healthy. I can see Indy being interested in a trade like:

Pels: Kevin Love, Brogdon
Pacers: Kira, 2nd(s)
Cavs: Bledsoe, Adams, 2nd(s).

I almost feel that's under paying by the Pels but at the same time, the Pels are taking on the worst contract and mal content with Love. Indy frees up money to keep role players like TJ McConnel and Doug McDermott while getting a recent lottery pick on a cheap rookie contract.

re: Nate Bjorkgren out
From everything I have seen, the Pacers love Brogdon and got some really big offers at the deadline. They do have Holiday behind him and might want to free up more time for him. So maybe they do move him. But I think they could get a lot more than just Lewis and 2nds..

It's not just Lewis and 2nds. It's Lewis and $20 million off their books because you're not sending them any money back. You could cut out Cleveland and send them Bledsoe/Lewis and a 1st. They technically get more value there, basically "2 1sts", but they probably end up having to choose between keeping McConnel or McDermott.

I can see Indy keeping him, I just think his salary and their wing depth make him someone they'd consider trading.

My bad. I missed that part, makes sense. Do they need space? Or just gives them room for later?

I believe they’re about $15 million away from the tax before resigning guys like McConnell or McDermott.

I think they'd be more open to moving Myles Turner, since the Turner and Sabonis combo hasn't worked well up to this point. We already know Griff likes Turner. I wonder what it would take to acquire him?

He really is a great fit next to Zion with his rim protection and three point shooting. Going from Adams to Turner would be a big upgrade, just as going from Bledsoe to Brogdon would be as well.

He had more than one chance to get Turner….instead he decided to trade a future asset for Adams and extend him for $17m the next 2 seasons when he might be worth $10-$12 right now, and he will be 30 by the time his contract is up.

Really? I have always heard that the Pacers have consistently refused to deal Turner.

Only because they had his price set far too high….I’m sure they wanted a first and maybe a protected first.

Hindsight is 20/20, but I’m sure if you look at the situation they were in to start the offseason you could then understand that the Pacers thought they could compete with the squad around them.

Also, with them in the tax, they weren’t about to move a solid young player who was cost controlled when they were still expecting to make the playoffs. If they weren’t completely rebuilding at the time, then it wouldn’t make sense from their standpoint to take back the salary of a player attached to draft assets that couldn’t help contribute to them winning.

I’m sure they were demanding a starting caliber player in return, along with draft capital….which is probably why the Celtics balked when they said to be in discussions.

This never gets reported but probably is exactly why Turner has been “available” for 2-3 years with no takers. It’s the equivalent of asking for 2 1sts when the market for centers like him is clearly 1 1st or even 2nds based on Drummond and Allen.
