Mirotic or Julius Randle?
Posted by LSU_30A on 6/22/19 at 10:38 am26
Even after drafting a center we still need another big man as I doubt Jaxson Hayes will be ready to contribute right away. I can see an argument for both players. Mirotic is more of a stretch 4 with a much better 3 point shot. Randle is more of a small ball 5 than a PF who is strong as a bull and can stand up to any center in the league. He isn’t a sharpshooter like Mirotic but he still shoots the 3 enough to keep defenses honest. What he really provides you is instant offense. He’s your guy if you need a quick bucket as he’s so strong driving to the basket not many big men can or want to get in his way. Imagine Zion and Randle on the floor together. It would scare the shite out of any front court in the league. I would honestly be fine with either guy with a slight edge going to Mirotic with our need of shooters but the Zion/Randle pairing would be unlike anything the NBA has ever seen before.

One is a floor a spacer
The other would be in zion’s way

It’s Mirotic by a wide margin

Mirotic fits better and would cost less, no?

Is there someone available that can provide both skill sets? Or can we have both of them? I’m not that informed on the money required or free agents/trades available.

For this team Niko. We need to offer Lopez a nice contract so that Bucks can't resign Lopez and Niko. Then turn back to Nico
But Randle, although doesn't share the ball, does everything in the paint which is what this team lacked a few years ago. Points in the paint, get to the line.
His price tag will just be too high for 6th man and we have Zion to replace some of that production.

But how much are we willing to pay Niko? Who would you rather on a 4 year deal?
Niko making $20 per year
Love making $30 per year
Horford making $27 per year
We saw how getting paid killed Ryan Anderson's value as a player. I'd argue all 3 of these players on those deals clog your cap and are negative assets. So if that's the case is Love the one to go with since he's Good Starter quality and Niko is more Role Playing Starter quality?

I loved having Mirotic here and it would be great to have him back. He's a solid player who fills a need, a great guy, and by all accounts he loved NOLA.
I like Julius too, but I'm afraid that as thin as the free agent pool is someone else will offer him more than we are willing to pay. We also need to add another shooter.

I would think so. I saw somewhere Randle is projected to get 4 years $60 million. No question Mirotic would open the paint up for Zion. I just love Julius Randle and how he plays. He’s a wrecking ball with a very underrated offensive game. Having Randle would keep Zion at PF while Mirotic would most likely play the 4 with Zion playing the 5. I can see pros and cons for both guys.

I’m with you on Randle. I absolutely love bully ball, and really like Randle’s offensive game.
Playing GM has never been one of my strengths as a fan, lol.

Neither.
I'm hoping having Langdon as his right hand will keep Griffin from feeling he needs to choose the lesser of 2 evils. Every time Griffin starts talking about Kevin Love Langdon needs to show him his list of "buy low" candidates.

Get Dedmon if you can and see if you can bring in Pau for super cheaper strictly as a locker room guy.
Go after a Euro reclamation project like Nando de Colo or Shane Larkin.
Solid vets like Darren Collison, Tomas Satoransky, George Hill etc
Older wings that are known for being good in the locker room that may be cheap and short term like Demarre Carroll or Wilson Chandler.
If you must take a risk and spend a few bucks maybe a guy that has fought to bring his career back and had a great year like Jeremy Lamb or Terrence Ross.

Why the fear of Kevin Love?
Randle is a turnstile on defense while Mirotic is slightly above average at worst. It’s an easy answer that Mirotic is what you need. He is a two-way player that gives you outside shooting and rebounding.
Randle is a talented player but not a great shooter and useless on defense. He won’t be worth the investment on this team.

This team needs a backup PG and a floor-spacing big man. If we ship Moore out, we'll have $35-40 million to spend. If we spend $5 million on a backup PG, we'll still have max money to spend on a big. I think we should spend it, either in free agency or in a trade.
He makes a ludicrous amount of money for 4 years, is on the wrong side of 30, and has had injuries throughout his career.
They’d have to attach at least 2 unprotected firsts for me to even consider it.
Do you want 40ish% of your cap tied up in KLove for 4 years?
