Lol sure. As if Nascar wasn’t a publicity stunt by Nascar. I don’t even think it was Wallace, but Nascar itself. But yeah.... definitely fake.

It was most likely in Los Angeles.

I absolutely believe it happened exactly as she said.

Most important fact in the article: "Jrue arrived on the scene with his dad"

You can tell who's had this experience and who hasn't.

No, she made up a story that Jrue, Jrue’s father, and Jrue’s sister were all present for in order to... what?

It sounds like there are some missing parts of this story. It doesn’t make sense at all.

I can think of a narrative that fills in the blanks and makes sense without Lauren having left out any significant details or requiring the cop to be evil:

- Cop sees a car with tinted windows and follows them because tinted windows often = red flag.
- Cop eventually pulls suspicious vehicle over and neither person in the car has an ID. Red flag #2 and things are getting sketchy.
- Cop is told by the driver that her "husband" will be bringing her ID. How many times has he heard that before?
- A man with dreads, wearing jewelry that looks like his job is working out rather than working 9 to 5 shows up driving an expensive vehicle. What is the cop supposed to assume at this point other than he's their pimp or dealer? "This whole group is sketchy. I bet he has some outstanding warrants. If I send him back to his car while I check he might drive off, but this dude is huge, I don't feel comfortable with him walking around freely when I have my back turned to him, I better be safe and cuff him."

This isn't a black and white issue, no pun intended. Cops can look at what I laid out and say that all seems reasonable. Citizens can look at that and say it's unwarranted profiling. The problem is they both have a point. These protests started because we have some real problems we need to solve rather than continue to ignore.

Black males get cuffed all the time because of safety concerns. Has happened to multiple friends of mine.

But it doesn't seem somewhat odd in the context of her story??

"My husband is coming up here to bring our licenses... here he is now"

"Whoa buddy! Hands on the frickin hood!"

No that's actually how we are treated. I've gotten similar treatment multiple times.

I mean, I’m sorry but outsiders are not allowed to interfere with cops pulling over someone.

That’s common sense. She didn’t want to take her medicine for being an idiot and driving without her license and then decided it’s because of racist cops. I am a minority, but I know common sense is to let the cops come to me if i am there to provide information or something like that. Not just jump out of my car and stroll over and interfere.

It’s a sucky situation, but is solved if 1) you don’t have illegal tint, 2) don’t drive without an id, or gasp, your license, 3) don’t assume you can just stroll into the middle of cops pulling someone over.

Again it’s a shitty situation, but it all happened because of the Holiday’s failures to follow the law in the first place.

Why would a man with dreads and jewelry look like a pimp or dealer? That's the shite we're talking about.

you serious clark?

i've been pulled over twice and had my car searched for no reason at all, and didn't get a ticket in either instance. Both cops i dealt with were jerks. Had i not been a teenager driving a shitty car with speaker boxes in the back and tinted windows, would have never been pulled over in the first place. Cops profile cars and people. It's necessary. Deal with it.

Of course it is, and honestly I'm having a problem seeing Jrue put out the right vibe to fit that role even if he happened to look the part that day. But I was trying to fill in the blanks in a way where the cop was "just doing his job", because I think that's the most reasonable explanation for how this went down. I didn't say system didn't need to be fixed, just that there was an explanation where Lauren wasn't leaving anything out and the cop wasn't evil.
