Milwaukee star guard Jrue Holiday and the Bucks have agreed to a four-year maximum contract extension worth up to $160 million, his agent Jason Glushon of @GlushonSM told @TheAthletic @Stadium.

This is actually great for us.

There was never any doubt, they basically had to pay him that.

Glad for Jrue though

I’m so happy for Jrue. Not many players even at his level are able to sign multiple contracts as large as he has.

Spot on.. you don’t give up that kind of draft capital to not offer someone the max

I sincerely want the Bucks to get a ring or two before we dominate the league.

This is great if Griff drafts well...He isn't safe in this area (Bennett, Wiggins , Tyus Jones).

Good for Jrue. He's one of the few people in the league that actually will appreciate making $40 million a year like a normal person would.

That's why we had to trade Jrue there was no way we could pay him what he was going to get.

There’s a player option in year 3.

The Bucks are on the clock. 3 years to win a title.

If they don’t they have no cap space during that time, are in the lux, have very little in the way of draft capital or ability to make trades.

In 3 years if they haven’t won, Giannis is out.

And our picks look golden

If the Bucks get multiple rings you can kiss the value of the 26, 27 swap/unprotected first goodbye.

No way Giannis leaves if they win multiple titles in the next 4 years.

Good for Jrue, but I don’t think with the league the way it is that the core and lack of high level role players is going to get it done for Mil. And I expect Mil will either be looking to move Giannis in 24/25, or risk seeing him walk for nothing and the Bucks will be left wandering the NBA post superstar wasteland with no picks to rebuild around for several seasons.

Honestly, I think it’s inevitable and has been.

I’ll bookmark it, but I bet in several years I can already predict the thesis statement:

“Mil, after third straight playoff exit
with their now second coach, now faces exactly what OKC fans can tell you about first hand, squandering what could have been a dynasty to save a little cash and realizing it too little too late.”

It was over to me the day Mil chose saving a little bit of cash on their yearly balance sheet and letting Brogdon walk. He’s not James Harden but he was an invaluable piece for a smaller market team that has to compete with super teams. An aging Jrue, Middleton, and Giannis with so-so role players isn’t winning a chip with LAL, Brk, Phi, and some of the budding teams poised to make a leap, but Brogdon, Jrue, Middleton, and Giannis very well could have been the foundation for at least one or two titles.

Griff changed his scouting staff i guess ^^

Else, the Bucks overpaid Middleton and Jrue...I don't know how they will arrive to improve the team if they doesn't win a ring.

Crazy how quickly the narrative shifts. Like three weeks ago, Hayes and NAW were a black mark on Trajan Langdon’s reputation.

This is right. In one sense, it would be great for a small-market team such as MIL to win a title, but for the good of the Pelicans, it would need to be just one, and it would be need to be this year. The 538 website currently gives them an 8% chance of doing that, which sounds about right.

So, it's unlikely, but I'll root hard for them this season. And after that? The more failure and misery, the better for us.

Yeah I’ll root for Jrue this season, maybe next, but beyond that it risks giving Giannis a false sense of optimism in Milwaukee and deciding to finish his career there.

They aren’t there yet, but the same issue is about to come up with Middleton too in two seasons. Bucks will be capped out and 32 year old Middleton will want his last big bag as well.
