And everyone laughed and bashed everyone on here that wanted to trade him away in the offseason. I like him as a person and a player but like a lot of people said on here in the offseason, He is great when he’s not “the guy” in an offense that has an elite scorer off the pick and roll. He doesn’t fit this team and by the time the younger guys get to his level then he will be old and washed up. Trade him now and get what you can. Your not going anywhere anytime soon.

Can we get our star rookie back and see how things look first?

IF it comes down to it, you trade him at the deadline, and only for a huge offer

Miami or Milwaukee would give up a kings ransom for him around then IMO

The consensus was that he has always been undervalued around the league..

Why would anyone give up a kings ransom?

Zion can't really fix what's happening with Jrue. Even with our players adjusting to each other and a new defensive scheme there's really no excuse for him starting the season the way he has. It's like this every season. And he isn't the only one but it's old at this point.

This. Zion is going to improve the offense and rebounding which will also improve the defense. I turned tonight's game off after the half and I may not watch again until Zion returns.

People need to stop using Griff's cheer leading as an indictment of Jrue. That's an indictment of Griffin. We pretty much have this same thread every year, he starts slow then gets in his groove and shuts people up.

I know people are tired of waiting on injured players to be the answer, but Zion is a generational talent. If they hadn't landed him in the lottery they may well have traded Jrue this summer and gone with a longer rebuild strategy.

yep. The issue is do they even need Jrue with Brogden and oladipo on the team already. Maybe brogden plays more 3 if Jrue were to go there. If they couldn’t get a very good SF, they might be interested in that deal. Hopefully none of this happens and Jrue balls out ASAP

Ok so he starts slow. You also know he’ll
come around. This thread appears like clockwork.

Zion is a rookie. You guys are definitely hoping for a lot. He was just as lost defensively as everyone else in the preseason and his offensive rebounding wasn’t very high. He’s not going to fix the Pelicans issues by himself. That’s unrealistic.

The Pels have been in most of these games and lost due to self inflicted wounds. I don't expect Zion to be a miracle worker, I just expect him to help reduce the number of times we shoot ourselves in the foot.

Specifically I'm expecting he'll be a finisher and a defensive rebounder. On offense he gives Jrue and Lonzo a better option than forcing their own shot. On defense his rebounding will end possessions, Pels are currently 29th in DReb%. That will lead to better offense which will let the team get set which will lead to better defense and create a positive feedback loop which will turn close games into wins and goats into GOATs.

We can’t judge anyone on the team with Alvin as coach.

He infects the team like a cancer. That’s why it was so stupid to “let him coach for a couple years then replace him when we’re good.”

There’s no way to judge who sucks and who is just being put in a terrible system and terrible lineups by uncle al

there was a thread before knee where you tried to guess zion rookie numbers.
Guesses tended toward 20, 5, 5 (rare)

Right now on 23 minutes:
Morant 19.5, 3.5, 5.5

Very impressive
Rj barrett (hes all that!) i was so wrong.
Tyler herro. Smooth operator.

Clarke (i was right) and hachimura both real.

No way I trade Jrue for Turner

If I land Turner I keep Jrue

Indiana would probably be more likely to want a Favors with a 1st package, saves them cap space next season and gives them a pick

One of the biggest reasons that our offense looks so bad. You can't run a fast break off of made baskets or dead balls.

Said the same thing last couple of years OP. We love him because he stayed when it looked like the team was falling apart and because of the run he had playing next to Rondo. That year they locked up Lillard and CJ.

Been saying for a while he slows down the tempo on offense for a few years. I like Jrue, but there's a reason our second unit shoots us back in games. The SG position is expected to put up points. We are lacking there with the first unit. Jrue is good at iso scoring and getting to the hoop, but is too inconsistent offensively to be the star we all expected him to be. We can't hold off Frank Jackson because Jrue stayed.

I am starting to think maybe Griff forgot to give him permission to dominate.

does anyone else feel like we should slow down our pace? I think you attack at full speed when the time is right but this bull shite of them running every possession makes them play sloppy. Maybe it would help the defense also
