I don’t really care about the 2nd or 3rd guy we get in a deal, that never even seems to Happen.

Who has better star potential of being a big 3 type player that is needed for typical championship teams. I have no idea, but hearing a lot of hype on Barrett.

Is there no possibility of pulling Tatum and Brown?

Give me Tatum. Was set up to fail this year with how that team was built. He is proven and the better player.

Barrett buys more time for the Pelicans.

He and Williamson would allow for a more patient build.

I'm content with either. I really love Tatum though, he is one of my favorite players

In an RJ Barrett deal you get Mitch too who can also be one of those dudes

No one thinks the Grizz would take Tatum and the rights to their pick back for Ja. Seems like that would tempt them. Plus we would still possibly have additional assets left over like Smart, Brown and at least another first. Maybe then trade smart for tj warren to fill the 3. Or keep Smart and trade Jrue if you can get elite assets back. Who says no?

We are acting as if Tatum is a seasoned vet. He is only 20.

Last night, when they talked to Barrett, he described himself as a combo guard that can play either SG or PG. Zion was there and echoed the same sentiment. They don't see him as a wing. But more as a shooter and creator. I always thought of him as a wing, but kind of soft. I guess that was why he plays that way..

I know, people are failing to realize Tatum just turned 21 and brown is only 22. It allows us to slightly accelerate the rebuild and stay extremely young.

With that being said... I will by no means shed any tears if we take the knicks package. We are in a good spot and this is why we need to just move on from AD now.

RJ Barrett... RJ was considered to be thought of as the no 1 pick this year before the season started. That includes over zion who was ultra hyped before he even played college b-ball.

Zion's hype continued to grow and it overshadowed RJ but dont let that fool you, RJ is a hell of a talent. So if it was my choice it's either get AD to stay or go get Knicks pick for RJ. And essentially have 2 number one over picks in talent.

Barrett = swinging for the fences, has a very high upside
Tatum = more stable, proven commodity with limited upside

It all depends on the compensation around them both IMHO

If you can somehow land DSJ and Robinson, you take the NY offer easily.

If you can get Tatum, Brown, Smart, and all of the picks, its a harder argument to pass up. The proven assets could be flipped at the deadline when other players become available.

I’d rather go Barrett IMO.

Both he and Zion are really good friends and would help keep each other happy by playing with one another. Their styles didn’t mesh well but I think they could learn to play together. Barrett just has to learn to take better shots and get a little bit better at his 3pt shooting and he’ll be an All-Star. He’s a scorer and every championship team needs one.

Zion is also going to play the majority of his first two years inside while he works on his handles and outside shooting. That could leave room enough for Barrett to also develop his shot as well.
