I've seen you reference that when the lottery is completed, that the Pels will know what deal they will make for AD.

Has this timeline adjusted with Griffin making a push to keep AD? or will they have met by then?

As I said a few weeks ago, the planned meeting is in Chicago between the 17th and 21st.

Don't be in a rush to know what is gonna happen. Enjoy the drama and all the twists and turns it is bound to take

Yep. Unknown speculation for the next week.

Then, we move to more known speculation!! By early to mid June we should have some leaked real offers. Then, the trade known but can't be executed yet, then the draft, then FA opens, then the trade becomes official.

Gonna be a couple crazy months. Enjoy them, don't rush them because August and September will be super boring.

To me, that translates to we have plenty to occupy our time until Saints preseason.

I tell y’all what. AD looks mighty attractive to the Celtics with the Greek Freak tearing through the eastern conference. Personally, I don’t think AD has the alpha in him to ever be on Greek Freak level but at least let other teams fall in love with his potential.

I agree that what's happening to the Celtics is very good for us, although if Tatum/Brown can't help Kyrie win in the Eastern Conference, not sure what good they will do us with Jrue. The exact opposite was happening last year so who knows.
No one thought Victor Oladipo was going to flourish in Indiana.

I’m kind of up in the air whether it’s good for us. This also may make KI want to leave no matter what.

Yeah. The flipside of this is that if Tatum and Brown were a world beating duo with Kyrie...they would need AD even less and we'd be less likely to get both of them in any deal.

And for the 5000th time - the Celtics won't have that information while negotiating with the Pelicans.

My best friend was in the FO the first time Lebron left. They had no idea he was leaving until the night he did. 24 hours earlier, they still thought he was coming back and were making calls to make moves with other teams assuming that he was. Same goes for the Warriors and KD on July 2nd. I had a friend in the front office in Houston when Dwight came, and they had no idea until the day of and they know LA still thought he was returning in early July. Did you guys see the Paul George doc? HE didn't know until late June. Genuinely didn't know.

Kyrie is not going to make a firm decision any time soon. And even if he does, he is not going to let it be known and lose his leverage. His decision will also depend on other players who also don't know/let it be known. KD is still gonna be playing while Griffin and Ainge are negotiating.

Griffin and AD will meet up in 12 days or so. If he says he isn't "all in", the trade talks will start with other teams on May 20th. A deal will be agreed to in the 3-4 weeks following the start of those convos. The Celtics won't know what Kyrie is doing and I honestly don't think Kyrie will know what Kyrie is doing. Kawhi won't know what he is doing and neither will the Raptors. THE AD DOMINO COMES FIRST!!!!

There's always one move that has to happen first before the other start.
This offseason i think the first one is going to be AD, and nothing is happening after that until KD makes a decision. then the dominoes start falling.
That's the positive in all of this b/c teams like Boston have to think that them having AD is a way to keep Kyrie, or a team like the Knicks thinking they have to get AD if they want to get KD and/or Kyrie.

Same with Raptors and Clippers -- AD helps them with Kawhi.

That 2020 FA class aint great. If you miss out on this class or lose one of your main guys, you might not be able to get a star again for half a decade or more. And if in AD you get not only one star, but potentially 2, that is worth all the assets you can give up

As with all things, it will be a Knowledge/Risk analysis.

The Celtics will have SOME knowledge as to Kyrie's intentions. It may be minimal, but they will have to put a percentage on what will cause him to come back.

And they will have to weigh that percentage versus the risk of trading for AD and getting him or not getting him.

Certainty that he will come back if they trade for AD drives the price up, vast uncertainty drives the price down.
