The rest of his draft class has excelled faster than he has and while is trying his best to improve, it just didn’t pan out on the Lakers and in the Bubble.

Do you consider Lonzo a draft bust already or do you still give him time? I think he is one of those cases where he will work hard but he just isn’t meant to be a top player/GOAT level, which is okay, it happens to some athletes in sports.

Too early. He's had like one offseason (if that) where he was healthy and not recovering/rehabbing an injury.

He has not lived up to his draft slot, but he is an NBA starter.

He just finished his 3rd year in which he shot .375 from 3 with a 2.26 ast/to ratio and 6.1 rebounds per game. He is also an average to plus defender. This thread is ridiculous.

Bust might be a strong word for a 22 y/o who is a pretty good player and showing improvement. That draft class just ended up with a ton of solid players that several teams weren't expecting to be that good. Mitchell, Adebayo, Anunoby, Hart, Allen, Collins, etc all 13-30

I think the real answer is that PGs/SGs were very overrated in this draft. It ended up being all SF, PF, and C's with success besides De'Aaron Fox and Mitchell. I wouldn't say Lonzo has played bad or is bad compared to Fultz picked ahead of him or Ntilikna/ Dennis Smith picked a few picks after him.

The PG position in general was the biggest bust as far as potential in this draft and where they were picked. Lonzo could still be a top 10-15 player in a re draft and probably the second PG picked behind Fox.

I guess it depends on how you define bust. I define it as someone that just sucks and is out of the league within 5 years.

Ball has not lived up to the #2 pick but he is a decent to good player in the right role and I personally think he will be in the league for a long long time. He won't be a superstar ever, but barring injury, I think he will have a 12+ year career.

I don't understand the vitriol leveled at this guy unless people are upset Lonzo has not lived up to his draft position yet. He sucked in the bubble, but I have seen improvement in his game. I think his upside is high and he can become an important piece alongside Zion.

Re draft players ahead of Lonzo

SF: Tatum, Anunoby,

PF/C: Markkanen, Adebayo, John Collins, Allen

SG: Mitchell

PG: Fox

Close calls: Issac, Kuzma, Jackson

I'd throw in Kennard if it wasn't for injuries.

I just don't see how you can label a player a bust when they still can be a top 10 pick on a re draft, regardless of where they started. Bust to me means at least 10-15 or more players are undeniably better than them AND that player hasn't continued to improve his skill sets or add more to his game. Lonzo has added more to his skill set and game. He was also drafted as the 2nd best PG behind Fultz and would be drafted as the 2nd best PG behind Fox so he didn't even move on that front.

Nowhere near a bust, since he is a visionary passer in transition and has turned himself into one of the best catch and shoot guys in the league. In itself, it shows how willing and able he is to improve. He totally revamped his dumpster fire of a jump shot in one off-season and made it work in-game. He doesn't get enough credit for that. Who was the last to do that? Also very disruptive defensively.

If he can display an aggressive mindset in terms of driving, finishing in traffic (very difficult to suddenly be good at, but not impossible for a guy his size) and creative passing in the half court, he has All-Star potential

Relevance to whether he is a bust or not?

Kennard and Jackson are not even close to Ball

I will never understand why his jump shot starts at basically his waste. Terrible form, and it really limits his ability to shoot contested shots.

Nah, go back and look at his draft class. He would still be a lottery pick if they did a re-draft of that class.

Apparently everyone in that draft was a bust other than the 5 guys that are stars according to this threads definition.

I'd pick Lonzo at #2 > Fultz at #1

I'd pick Lonzo at #2 > Jackson at #4

I mean yeah you can say he has underperformed in a draft class that only had 5 players get THAT much better, but bust?

Lonzo is still FAR from one of the best catch and shoot players in the league. Slow down hoss.

I would love a trade for a vet at the point that can help the young squad out.
