If you were Griff for a day...
And you had gotten a call from the Clippers and got the same offer for Jrue that they offered OKC for Paul George, would you consider taking it?

To refresh, this was the haul:

“The L.A. Clippers have acquired six-time NBA All-Star Paul George from the Oklahoma City Thunder in exchange for guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, forward Danilo Gallinari and the Clippers’ first round draft picks in 2022, 2024 and 2026, along with two first-round choices via Miami (2021 and 2023), and OKC obtained the right to swap first-round picks in 2023 and 2025, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations Lawrence Frank.”

SGA, Gallinari, 5 first round picks and two pick swaps... Would you be tempted? Be honest...

Hell yeah I'd be tempted. I just don't think it falls in line with what we are doing. We already have Lakers picks, too. At some point, you need the actual players. Jrue is the centerpiece of this team next to Zion. He is exactly the type of leader and player you want guiding these young guys. This would basically sell out the future for another couple years for guys that may have their development slowed because guys like Jrue aren't around.

Uh...yeah.
But I’d be willing to bet he wasn’t getting that offer or anywhere close.

He got a call to gauge interest in trading Jrue and he shut them down.

Whether Jrue was the kind of player who would move the needle for Kawhi is a different question.

We've got enough current and future assets now that we can afford to hang onto our super valuable vets.

No and only because of what we got from the Lakers

We have tons of young talent and future picks. That is great when paired with a leader and veteran like Jrue Holiday.

If all we had were 14 young guys and 13 picks in the next 3 seasons we'd be lost

Just another hypothetical, what if this was the trade for Davis instead of Jrue?

Just curious everyone's thoughts as that's probably part of the reason why we wouldn't do it.

There's no way they would offer us all that for Jrue, but if they did then it's a no-brainer. That's just too much to pass up.

That said, I'm glad Jrue is gonna be here to lead this team going forward. He's been my favorite Pel for years.

For Davis, it wouldn’t have been enough.

Shai is good and on a rookie deal but getting the 4th pick PLUS Ball, Hart, and Ingram outweighs him.

None of those Clippers picks are likely to amount to much.

The Laker picks, OTOH, have a decent chance of conveying well because they are run by retards, LeBron is aging, AD is injury prone, and both have outs in the next few seasons.

Yeah I'm with you on that. It has A LOT more potential to pan out better with the Lakers with what we got.

You'd absolutely take that package for Jrue Holiday. But there is also no way the Clippers would offer all that for Jrue Holiday. Anyone saying 'no' in regards to that offer for Holiday is crazy.

You realize with that amount of picks and young talent you could easily spare a few to go out and acquire another talented veteran player, right?

The two young players are nice, but a bunch of late first round picks are meh. I rather keep Daddy Jrue to coach up the youth.

re: If you were Griff for a day...
Absolutely, but by all accounts that was never on the table.

Seemingly LA called around early on to try and put a normal deal for a big name together, which was probably a couple firsts, maybe one of Miami’s, but the haul that happened seemingly happened only because LA was asked by Kawhi to get George and that was the difference between getting him or losing him to LA or Toronto.

Nah man. Jrue from a talent and temperament perspective is exactly what we need to grow what we have, and we very well may have a very deep and developing roster. Those picks are great and all, but they do nothing to develop what we have already. If Zion/NAW/Hayes meet their potential and Ingram Continues his growth, oh lawd!

Those picks could go and get you any talented vet in the league! It could even be Jrue Holiday!

Of course you take it. Jrue is a fine player but he’s 29 years old. I love the guy but the way he’s revered as untouchable on here is kind of weird sometimes. We would have a bounty of picks and good young players unrivaled in the history of the nba.

Nobody is offering that for Jrue though.

Swap out a few of those 1sts for Harrell and I would’ve been for it honestly. We already have all the Lakers picks

SGA/Gallinari/Harrell and a 1. I’m definitely pulling the trigger
