How would you feel about Atkinson as HC with Will Weaver as lead assistant

I could see this being a legit possibility.
Atkinson is one of the best coaches on the market. With Doc likely going to Philly, and Lue having a legit shot at LAC and Houston, you have to think that Atkinson (given the connection to Langdon) will be very high up on the list. He is a hard worker and a great player developer.
Weaver was on Atkinson's staff in Brooklyn, and Langdon/Atkinson made him the HC of their GLeague team to great success. He's gone on to be a HC in the NBL, but you have to think that Weaver's goal is to be a HC in the NBA, and its unlikely that he will get that chance coming straight from the NBL. The next logical step is a lead assistant on an ascending team. If the Pelicans have success, he has a good chance of getting that shot given his resume.
It also wasn't random that Didi was sent to the Sydney Kings given the connection to Weaver.
Both Weaver and Atkinson are hands on coaches, both are renowned for player development, and I know Weaver is known for cutting edge tendencies and being adept at analytics.
It would be somewhat similar to the Pels hiring Griffin and then Langdon, who were both up for the same job.
I think this has a high chance of happening.

People just looking for big names will melt, but this would be a very smart move.

I kind of feel like Atkinson falls into the "big name" category. He's obviously not a Doc or MDA level big name, but he was a HC that did a really good job and got fired because of Kyrie, and a lot of people on here would pretty psyched.

He was highly thought of before Kyrie got there.
Did you just finish listening to Jake Madison’s podcast this morning?

No I haven't listened yet but I do listen at some point most days. Looking now it seems he talks about Weaver.

Sure did. He mentioned him being potential candidate that no one is talking about, but I agree that it would be unlikely he gets the actual HC position.

We've talked about Weaver as a potential candidate on here for a year now, but to me with so many qualified candidates out there, and the path I think Griffin wants to take, I don't see someone like that getting the job.

Do you guys think griffin keep Fred Vinson on?

He seemed to be beneficial to some of the younger guys shooting this year and in the past. Griffin and Langdon seem to have a lot of autonomy, and they haven’t let any other staffers go yet. It’s quite possible they stay, or they are just waiting to make the coaching hire. Although, it seems odd they wouldn’t have made those moves already.

Hopefully. Vinson is a shooting visionary
I don't get the love for Weaver. The Sydney Kings were the most talented team in the NBL last year and got swept in the Finals

What the frick are you talking about?
Perth has been a powerhouse in the league winning 5 of the last 7 championships, 4 of the most recent 5.
The series was 2-1 and the Kings decided that the issues surrounding Covid were more important than some basketball games so they, the Kings, initiated stop of play for the series and it was awarded to Perth who had the lead at the moment.

A whole lot better than I did with Gentry as HC.

Honestly it's my top preference. People are expecting us to win now, but we still need a couple years of solid player development under our belt. We're only 1 year out of a major rebuild with pretty much a wasted season (as far as experience due to coaching, injuries, and covid).
Better to do it the right way, than try to jump the timeline like we've done so many times in the past.

That's true, I am from Perth after all. Cotton is insane. Cats had the whole thing wrapped up, COVID or not.
I guess Weaver could be our Brett Brown
