How good will Lebron be the next 2-3 years?

It’s funny, everyone talks about how old and washed up Chris Paul is. He’s younger than Lebron with less mileage.

I briefly looked at some HOF players to see what they did after age 34. Some were completely done. Others still played at a good but not great level.

I really didn’t find anyone who maintained All NBA levels of play into their late 30s.

Lebron has a ton of mileage. He started breaking down last year. I don’t see that changing. His defense slipped. It will continue to more rapidly every year.

He’s never been a great shooter. Malone was a great player into his late 30s because of a step back jump shot. Duncan was as fundamentally sound as any player ever.

Lebron is an athletic freak. That is diminishing. I just don’t think the Lakers are nearly as good as people think.

Fans and press always overrate name guys at the end of their careers. This is a classic case of that. Pels won this trade big time.

Especially considering how beta Davis is.

Pels should have sent AD to the east

Lakers will be good. Don’t be dumb.

We made the right choice, though.

Lebron with injuries and rest last season finally will be rested and healthy going into the season.

What happened to Durant and Thompson from over use happened to Lebron as well this year. Players can’t play 100 games a year for that long of time and not have ligaments break down.

Lakers will be very good for the next three years and longer if they can get Kemba, Kawhi, or Kyrie to sign.

Honestly I saw Lebron turning more into a AD type skill set as a PF instead of dominating the ball on the perimeter. Then they want to add AD next to him which then puts AD guarding any bigger PFs or Cs. That was supposedly what AD didn’t want.

Maybe Lebron comes back and continues what he was doing, but I thought the natural thing for him was to become more of an athletic PF.

Well if he’s not, he will just blame AD

It’s an unpopular opinion but I think this next year is LBJ’s last year of being “him”.

Look at the amount of minutes he’s played at close to 35. It’s like top 5 all time already.

He’s much closer to being done than to being elite still.

Lakers will be good in 2019-2020.

The question is how long they will be good between LeBron’s age, AD’s injury prone nature, and the Laker front office’s poor decision making.

lakers will contend at the highest level for the next two years most likely. it’s a bitter pill but it is what it is. they will dominate the headlines and the airwaves and it will be nauseating

they aren’t making any more lebrons though so after that all bets are off. Maybe Davis finds his voice there and becomes the player he thinks he is. If he doesn’t they will struggle mightily just like we did

LeBron doesn't play defence anymore. But I think he will still be absolutely elite offensively

Great point. There are huge questions about how Davis and James fit together. They are both tweeners and neither one is a true big (post player/defender). Davis hated playing that here. If James pushes to the wing and they bring in another set of bigs (like Magee and Chandler), they are going to get smoked by quicker teams, more athletic teams..
