They have been consistently terrible in the 3rd throughout his tenure here. Blowing huge leads build in the first half with regularity.

What’s the explanation.

K. I’m enjoying this game. I think they’ll win.

I’m just curious as to why people think his teams start 3rds so poorly?

That was on me. I thought the game started at 7 and turned to discover it was 65-50. We got immediately punished for my stupidity.

He sticks with what’s gotten them the lead while other coaches make adjustments.

Monty had the same issues as well.

recency bias
confirmation bias
the Cavs are a great, proud team. they were going to come out and play
3rd quarter was Pel's 2nd best quarter last year in net rating
Pels have been an awful team the past 2 years

but mainly recency and confirmation bias

definitely things to pick at in terms of coaching. a broad statement like this is not really it. for instance, is it bad coaching in the 3rd, then great coaching in the 4th when they have a good net rating thus far?

I gotta admit there haven’t been many WTF Alvin moments for me this year other than thinking he sat Boogie with 2 fouls against the defending champs and being wrong. Finch has really brought life into the offense and you can easily see Erman being more vocal and consulted than I’ve seen in the past.

In fact, my biggest bitch about Gentry is that he rarely talks to the officials. He yells at them instead. These guys that get calls for four quarters have discussions, not berating sessions. And that’s a small gripe.

i tend to agree. the overall plan makes sense to me. their shot selection raw numbers are good and balanced. only about 11% long 2s with over 50% at the rim or in the paint.

when the players move the ball and themselves, it works pretty well on offense. when they get stagnant and stop doing that, it looks like shite. clearly they are coaching them to keep moving. sometimes they stop doing that; is that all on coaching or not?

defense still has some issues, i think. but they compete

i thought the rotations last night were smart- coming back w/ Davis and Cousins as LeBron rested to start the 4th effectively killed the game early
