Have we already given up this season?
Has Favors quit the team or have we just decided to tank? Zion is further delayed and will return with multiple restrictions when he does return. We play Jaxon. We lose many games when it could go either way. Is this a reasonable statistical outcome or are we secretly helping to secure the outcome?

I tend to think Gentry is just that bad but it is getting harder and harder to believe. Our team shouldnt be THIS bad. We shouldnt lose every close game.

I do not believe that we are intentionally tanking, but I also think that the front office has basically given up on making the playoffs this year. We're going to win a lot of games when we get Zion back and the schedule flips from the hardest to one of the easiest -- we're not going to be able to lose.

Nor do we want to. We have tons of picks, and developing our players in a winning culture is more important than a higher pick. One of the things that concerns me right now is that players are developing bad habits, either because they are pressing, or because it seemingly doesn't matter.

And Favors will play on our road trip -- it's too bad that our next two games are against MIL and PHI and will likely be losses anyway.

I don't see the point of sitting Favors last night, he could've played SOME kind of minutes..

However, no we haven't given up. Tanking is not something we need nor want to do with this roster, it instill bad culture in the players (see Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavs, Atlanta Hawks, etc etc)

that happened the day zion was known to be injured.

It would have been tough sledding even with 75 games of zion.

Portland got their center back.
Phoenix gets ayton back soon.

7th, 8th, 9th was always going to be down to a last week of hope.

Now you can develop the kids.

Looking forward to the z man on the floor.

Maybe a deal or two. Send jj to a contender for an unprotected 1 in 2021.

"Wait til next year".

Miami was 11-30 3 years ago, and finished 41-41.
I'd rather do that, or even just get to around 35 wins, than give up and hope for a high draft pick.

there is nothing positive about losing every night like we are right now.

IMO, Ingram is developing fine, Jaxson is developing fine, NAW is progressing slowly but positively. Zion is such a strong personality that his gravity will hold its own, unlike AD. Lonzo I couldn’t care less about.

If Embiid and Simmons weren’t permanently destroyed from the Sixers toxic losing culture, our core Pels will be fine. I’d rather start the next era with Edwards than some tenth pick and improve the top end chances of this franchise.

Yes, season is done. Time to ship out anyone who is not part of the future and develop the yout.

Celtic, you’re correct to say that a healthy Zion would not have assured the playoffs.
With Zion, the best I expected was to be within a couple or a few games of the 8th seed.
This season was starting over,in a sense.

I think the positive development that most people will not accept is that it provides an opportunity to move on from Jrue in a win/win way.

I think he is clearly not bought in and it is really unfair to waste his prime in a situation like this, he can probably fetch us some late firsts or a young prospect at a position of need that is not on a champions time schedule and I think that is pretty win/win

Well, I watched Zion in the preseason. I watched him average something like 25 points in limited minutes. I watched him do it against the best in the game, including Gobert, the DPOY. Until Zion was hurt, there was zero doubt in my mind that we were making the playoffs, and there's no reason to doubt that now.

I hope not. So sick of the “ wait till next year” mentality... that shite is played out. I don’t care if we an 8th seed. Give us some hope

the loss on last play is galling.

The last minute or two separates the wheat from the chaff.

Announcer screaming:
Cousy steals the ball.

Bird steals the ball.

West steals ball from van lier in open court.

Wilt blocks van lier in lane.

Close games, down to last play.
Who folds, who crushes.

re: Have we already given up this season?
While everyone loves winning, if we duplicate Miami and close that strongly, we will likely be stuck with another year of Uncle Al. No thanks.

If JJ would like a trade, facilitate. We sold him on winning. If we show we are willing to help new acquistions, we are more likely to continue getting new acquistions.

I like that Hayes, NAW, and other young guys are getting a chance to play now. If we think they are a part of the future, invest now to prepare for the return. It made sense to slow play them to start the year, as we had hopes of winning now, but at this point, they need 20 mins a game.

How long does Ball need to be evaluated for this team? Is Zion required to be a part of the eval? Do we intend to wait to see if he can thrive under the next coaches' system? What is his actual trade value?

After the Griff praise and vision casting, is Jrue truly untouchable? Is he the leader the young guys need?

Is Favors truly incapacitated by grief or does he lack passion for bball/Pels? I hoped he could be a bigger part of our growth but due to injury and bereavement, he has made little impact yet. Will that change?

We have a lot we can learn the remainder of this season...

re: Have we already given up this season?
Detroit has a VERY experienced team in that situation, and we do not... It will come with time, Ingram hits that shot and it's a different story..

I don't see the trade Jrue crowd, he will look alot better once we have Zion and Favors back in the fold.. Hopefully Ball keeps up his play from last night into Milwaukee

re: Have we already given up this season?
I don't believe so. I don't think we start trying to intentionally lose games. But I think the focus is likely going to shift from making the playoffs to seeing what are the long term pieces and how everything fits around Zion and BI. They'll be focused on developing the guys we have and trying to win along the way.

When Zion and Favors come back, if Zion and BI look great together and we play around .500 ball or a little better the rest of the way, I'm fine with that outcome.

You're giving Alvin WAAAAAAAY too much credit. Don't worry. He'll carefully plan the rotation so that we'll build a lead, choke it away in the 3rd, then stay close and lose it in the final minute. It's his script for this year and he can do it no matter who you put on the court for him.
