I felt like this offhand comment was the most interesting thing he said in his presser.

He said:

“Brandon Ingram is a 23 year old, 6’9”, pure shooting 2 Guard, essentially.”

Whether this was just a statement of his skill level, or a slip about where they see him and where they are going with the Guard position, remains to be seen. But I just thought this was very interesting.

If that’s the case then either Lonzo or Jrue will be on the move.

I saw someone else on here say the same. I'm in agreement. He is too slim to currently guard 4s, even small ball 4s. He seemed to do better guarding guards. Hopefully in the draft we're able to find a 3/4 and utilize Ingram as a 2/3.

Small forwards are hard to find, and I love Jrue. But adding a 6’8 3 and D type SF to the starting lineup would be intriguing. I have zero idea of who that player could be of course but fun to think about.

I thought it was obvious that was his ideal position.
Ingram and Redick should be your shooting guards.
Jrue and Ball your point guards.
Hart and Moore are your small forwards
Zion and Kenrich your power forwards
Favors and Hayes your centers

This is so interesting to me as well. Allow you put another versatile wing at the 3 and makes your length crazy and allows for a really “switchy” defense. I feel like BI needs to take a big step up in play making for this though. Or Zion does that instead

I’d prefer Josh Hart on the bench and fill in for whoever may be struggling in that game. Don’t really know how I feel about him being a full time starter.

Hart is what you want as your glue guy in the starting line up. Another guy to balance him out would still be needed but your starting 5 should have at least a utility guy like Hart.

Its disturbing for Griffin to say this. It makes no sense for Ingram to play two guard. Ingram is a huge wing. Almost 6'10 with crazy length. They are giving up too much potential speed and play making with him dropping down. This is the same as Davis proclaiming himself a 4 and never developing into a 5 here. We have 5-6 other guys that can play SG. It is not smart team building and Ingram should be focused on becoming a star SF..

It means he’s 6’9 but can’t guard the best forwards in the league

Durant often plays 2 Guard. I’ve consistently said on here that’s where I though Ingram might end up.

It’s been a long time since Durant played a lot of 2

I think this is their way of trying to make Ingram better defensively. His best season defensively came when he played a good bit of 2 for LA.

He's really a 3. He is too small and got killed inside playing the 4. And our rebounding was terrible with him at the 4. He is too slow laterally to guard the quick wing. The one thing he really struggles at is chasing players off-ball and getting over screens. If he is asked to guard 2's all game, they are going to pick & roll him to death

I could definitely get behind a starting lineup of

Jrue
Ingram
Crowder (FA)
Zion
Any stretch 5

Griff must follow what I say here.
My reasoning for saying he should be the two is b/c I think it creates a lot of mismatches for him, and he can handle it defensively.

It's alarming that he doesn't know he's 22.

Yeah I know he's 23 in a few weeks.
I got roasted on another forum for saying that Ingram is a 2.

What's the evidence for that? BI was a below average defender this year guarding opposing SFs, so how do think that he can handle guading SGs.

I think that this is just Griffin trying to motivate BI to work on some lateral quickness drills in our short offseason.
