This deserves its own thread. Future is bright even if the suns sweep us boys and girls.

The lakers pick is unprotected this year right

I was about to start this thread. Is this all updated with the trades we have made?

Do we have Mil 25 first rd pick?
Posted on 4/16/22 at 8:54 am to DrewSimp82
i thought our pick we sent to POR was top 4 protected this year and also saw something about it being protected if we made the playoffs.

Future is bright just with what we have that isn’t on the court this season.
All these picks are gravy because we now have the ability to either grab young guys to develop or flip assets for a key vet.
Hell of a turnaround from even last offseason where we were having to scramble to put together a starting five.

Mil 25 pick goes to Portland unless it is top 4.
That is because we hit the playoffs this year and this year’s first went to Charlotte as a result.
If we missed the playoffs, it would have conveyed unless we hit top 4.

Tankathon’s projections for our pick put us in the tier to get one of Benedict Mathurian (SG, Arizona), Johnny Smith (SG, Wisconsin), or Tari Eason (PF, LSU) if we stay in the 8-10 range.
Normally I would want to force a pick given that we appear loaded at the 4 with Zion returning but the riches of our roster mean we can afford to take Best Player Available and develop them if we want to.

That's a very misleading chart. It makes it look like we have extra 1st in years where we just have swaps. Don't get me wrong, it will be nice to swap our pick in the 20s for the Lakers pick in the top 10 next season, but it's still just 1 pick and not 2 like that chart suggests.

To make it easier (first rounders only) we have
2022 Lakers 1st
2023 own with right to swap with Lakers
2024 own (right to swap with Milwaukee)
2024 Lakers if we choose or defer to 2025
2025 own
2025 Milwaukee if top 4
2026 own (right to swap with Mil)
2027 own
2027 Milwaukee
2028 own
2029 own
2022 Lakers 1st
2023 own with right to swap with Lakers
2024 own (right to swap with Milwaukee)
2024 Lakers if we choose or defer to 2025
2025 own
2025 Milwaukee if top 4
2026 own (right to swap with Mil)
2027 own
2027 Milwaukee
2028 own
2029 own

Is bucks 2027 unprotected?
Posted on 4/16/22 at 9:48 am to DrewSimp82
that chart is incorrect
neither the SAC or CLE 2nds convey in 2022
Pels 2022 picks are currently 8 (LAL), 41 (NOP), and 52 (UTA)

3 teams from 9-14 would have to jump into the top 4 in order for us to lose the pick.

Yes
Easiest way to look at it.
Extra picks:
Lakers unprotected first in 24 or 25 (our choice)
Bucks unprotected first in 27
Bucks 25 if it’s in the top 4
So, realistically probably 2 extra picks.
We also have the right to swap firsts in these scenarios:
Lakers 23
Bucks 24
Bucks 26

This is 2022 1st and 2nd round.

Let’s bundle those 2nd rounders up to get another Herb lite in the top of the 2nd.
