After seeing everyone constantly bring up how bad tyreke and asik's contract are, I want to start warming everyone up to the offseason. Not only is the cap going up big time over the next two years. Teams are required to spend 90% of the cap each year. So if you strike out on your first couple targets you have to give someone that money. So does everyone else in the NBA. Their are going to be a ton of bad contracts for a long time until they just become the new normal.

To respond to what you said, Asik is getting paid starting center money for 4 years which just isnt gonna cut it. Tyreke's contract isnt horrible, but he just doesn't fit in with this team in my opinion. And it's time for EG to walk obviously. We need a wing player worth a shite with the little bit of money we will have.

Tyreke is a bad contract and a horrible player which is why we are way better than we were last year and how awful we were last year with him it is great that he's out for the season.

Tyreke is hardly a bad contract. When healthy, with the right role, he is a bargain.

The right role for him is ball-hogging on a bad team. Hardly a bargain for a team that wants to compete. He may be a bargain for a shite team that needs to hit the salary floor.

Yes, because without him AD get all the touches like today. Last year with Tyreke we won 45 games this season we'll be lucky to win 30.

Monty > Gentry
QPON > Gee
Gordon last year > Gordon this year
Holiday health last year > Holiday health this year

You act like all other things are equal. You also seem to miss that the team kind of started playing better when Tyrec was lost for the year.

Holiday had played better this year it's just that Tyreke makes everyone around him better. He gets so much attention on court and creates so many open looks. Everyone numbers are down with him being out.

With Jrue Gordon was garbage, when he came back he became one of the best 3pt shooters in the NBA. They next season Gordon shooting regressed without Tyreke. AD numbers have regressed, with out having a guy who can constantly put pressure on the D he is able to get doubled. When teams tried that last year he feasted. Tyreke othe than AD is the only player to take over the game with points/rebounds/asst. He plays and can guard 1-3 he cause mismatches at every position.Tyreke>Jrue he has way more impact on the game. Jrue is the better player in a system and Tyreke is the better raw talent with more impact on the game. I have yet to see Jrue leave an impact on this team like Reke did.

Lolnope. Tyreke can certainly take over a game via usage, but he can also just as easily retard you out of any game with the same usage.

AD's best game of his career came with Jrue and without Tyrec.

100% agree but so does Westbrook and Kobe, he comes from that breed of player that has no doubt in his talent even if he hurt his team but more than not it helps than hurts. He may cost us 8 games a year but win us 23 on his own.

AD had the best season of his career with Tyreke and not Jrue

I would rather trade Jrue for high caliber SG or SF and have Tyreke run the point, than have Jrue and Tyreke on the court together.

I've said it a thousand times, Tyreke is a PG. His two best seasons out of the 7 he's been in the league are the two he played PG. He's a mismatch on both ends of the court. I don't remember the stat, but 1 on 1 situations on defense last year Tyreke was actually an elite defender if i remember correctly.

Some of you confuse his ball hog nature with him not being the PG. WHen he's the SF or coming off the bench, it's his job to try to score. When he's the PG, he's actually good at trying to get others involved, and you can't deny that he's nearly unstoppable at getting to the rim. His improved jumpshot made him a very good player that opened up lanes and open shots for everyone on the floor. That's what you want from your PG. EG, Cole, and QPon had there best 3 point shooting seasons of their careers last year, and EG and Cole look terrible this year.

We were 18-19 with Jrue at the point before he went down.
Once Tyreke took over, we were 26-17, which some of those games were without AD. We have 0 shot at the playoffs last year without Tyreke.

DO you think it was coincidence, or did Tyreke make everyone around him a bit better last year when he was running the point?

To me, either let him play PG for this team and trade Jrue, or trade him and keep Jrue. He's not a SG/SF in the NBA. I think we can get more for Jrue and will be just fine with Tyreke at PG.

We started 1-11 with Tyreke running the show alongside AD. Inconsistency is the main issue I have with his play. It seems to me like he is what he is. Not going to get much better, nor much worse, just always inconsistent. Now Tyreke doesn't even defend when he's on the court, and you claim him to be an elite defender. Jrue is the best perimeter defender we have. What Pelicans games have you been watching?
If this was the case we would not be having these type of discussions. He is the worst off ball defender on this team, and Ryno is just as bad. Tyreke loses focus too often and makes too many head scratching decisions to be considered ELITE at anything. Tyreke's on ball defense is decent. Jrue is the better teammate & better player to have, easy.
