Then what happens is you just get more Rich Paul leaks about how much AD hates New Orleans and will absolutely not play here, blah, blah, blah. I don't think that tactic works.

logically, it would seem like klutch could be convinced to shut the frick up and let griffin do his business, at least on the first pass. if a power play based on keeping davis here doesnt work, then you let klutch come out and leak their stuff

all rich paul wants is power, centered around lebron. you can tell him he can start peacocking around once the pels know the max these teams are willing to go.

from chris mannix's podcast yesterday

quote:

“From what I understand, they’re (#Celtics) not going to take their foot off the gas when it comes to pursuing Anthony Davis,” - Mannix

“If you want a superstar like him, go get him and prove to him that your culture is worth keeping a player like that around,” - Nadkarni

Mannix is a lot more trustworthy to most than Fletch.

I love it.

If it’s Tatum, Smart, and a scrub I’d rather just force AD to play this year and lose him for nothing.

Do you think any other 1st would be involved? My guess is Pels would chose the Memphis pick as the unknown always seems enticing.

Always thought Boston has the best package, so we'll see how much they poney up. Play the Celts and Lakers against each other and try to get everything

The 2019 picks of Sacramento and the Clip Show could also be in play, but both are in the mid-teens.

You would probably have to package those two plus a second to jump up and get a player we wanted at about 10.

Mannix is definitely a more trustworthy guy but don’t forget he’s a Boston guy also

Smart as the second piece in an AD trade would be an enormous fricking fail

The real fail would be passing on Tatum for these other rumored deals from NYK, LAC, LAC, or BKN.

Or not realizing that Tatum, Smart, and picks is an absolute godsend of a return for a team that is getting sabotaged like this by Klutch. A few weeks ago, you were having threads about Zion OR Tatum, and now you'd get both? It's like you guys won the lottery twice this summer.

Yes, which gives me a lot more credence that Boston is involved.

That means both a NOLA and a Boston source are leaking it, for whatever reason.

Some people are idiots.

If all trade possibilities completely went to shite and we could only trade AD for Tatum straight-up I would still do it and be excited about the future.

Bro, the guy is a Celtics fan just spewing biased opinions. It's not better than what you'd find on the Lakers' forum where they vastly overrate their own talent, too.

Except I'm not overrating Tatum at all. Not comparing him to Zion, guys like PG13, or even AD. Some of you guys are comparing him to guys like Ingram or Barrett or Garland or SGA, which is nonsense. Never mind Tatum, Marcus Smart alone has been responsible for more wins the last few years than all of those guys combined, if not AD himself.

Some team will either step up with a real centerpiece like PG13 (good luck), or you will end up with something like Tatum, Smart, and maaaaybe one of Jaylen or the Grizz pick, plus lesser assets.

Further, that its *extraordinarily* fortunate for you guys, given that AD is on an expiring contract, has demanded a trade, and has actively worked to completely decimate his trade value by threatening several of the teams involved with a veiled promise to sign with LAL next year.

We can pretend Tatum would go 5th in this draft, I guess.

Speaking of which, shouldn't there be more talk about NO working out guys in the 3rd-4th range if the Knicks and Lakers were such serious options? Guess that rumor will happen soon enough, but worth chewing on for now. Draft is in like 2 weeks.

Speaking of the calendar, Kyrie's Rose Rule thing expires a week from today.

No, it is extremely likely that we will get both Tatum and Brown. It's actually guaranteed. One reason why is because the Celtics are going to refuse to give up Smart -- watch and see -- we will NOT get Smart whatsoever. The value of Smart to the Celtics is astronomical. They will not part with him

I would say pretend that Tatum would go 3rd or 4th if he was in the draft and everyone would probably be happy getting him, another lottery pick in Marcus(which both already have playoff experience) and probably another future top pick.

Zion, Tatum, Smart - is a great young core to move forward with. There is a lot more (effort, heart, determination, passion, on and on) in these 3 players than the one leaving.
