Tatum has become underrated on this board somehow. I don’t care what happened this season. Dude’s gonna beast and have fun again if we can obtain him.

I think a ton of these pieces are undervalued because of bias.
We bitch and moan about underachieving players while we're trying to swap one.
Our organizational mess clearly had a ton to do with it, but the Lakers mess didn't frick with those guys development? They're all still college age.
Tatum improved in a ton too. He just dropped a ton in his FT%. Think he heard the Kobe comparisons and started jacking up long twos, look at his shot charts. This is all correctable.

That's all well and good, but in the hierarchy of assets received from the Celtics Brown and the Memphis pick is probably second on that list.

Smart's a really good piece, but I agree, the Memphis pick or Jaylen Brown is what puts the deal out of reach for other teams like the Knicks, Nets, Clippers, or Lakers.
Without either of those assets, I'm really not sure that the Knicks package or the Lakers package isn't better.

We're for sure getting more than one pick out of this deal right? I mean didn't Atlanta just get 3 picks from the trade earlier this week? Honestly none of these players we are talking about getting in return excite me. I like tatum and think he will be solid but he doesn't blow me away. We better be getting a few first round picks out of whatever deal we choose. I think those are more valuable than these players being mentioned.

Yeah that sort of makes sense.
They probably feel pretty confident they can attract 1 or 2 major free agents. Now if they only get one, like say Kemba Walker, their posture toward moving SGA might change.

IMO it's a leverage play to maintain SGAs favor if they aren't the favorite. Very easy to back off that for AD, but if they don't get him they can act like didn't want him.

SGA is untouchable until if/when they add a max player. They don’t uproot what they’ve built for AD otherwise
