Fire Demps, Hire Sam Hinke

Start the Process.
How we got here.
How we got here.

Flipping Robin Lopez for the right to sign Tyreke Evans opened up a hole at center that Demps tried to fill by dealing a first-round pick for Omer Asik, and then by throwing $80 million at Asik and Alexis Ajinca just as the NBA was starting to move away from lumbering centers who couldn’t shoot or score. In 2016, with everyone flush with cash from the cap spike and New Orleans in desperate need of an answer on the wing, Demps spent $52 million on Solomon Hill, who had rarely sniffed league-average as a small forward in Indiana and has been even worse for the Pelicans. Players with some sort of value around the league—Eric Gordon, Al-Farouq Aminu, Ryan Anderson—were allowed to leave in free agency for nothing, rather than repackaged for future assets.

This is 2/3 incorrect I beleive. Aminu signed a minimum with Dallas the year after the Pels let him go. He was not valued by the league. We also never heard any rumors of any missed deals with Gordon. Ryno reportedly could have pulled in a late 1st and not doing that was a huge mistake.

I wouldn't mind Hinkie. But, while we know he can blow a team up and collect assets. Do we know he can build a winner?
Knowing this group though, my guess would Ferry, if they even fire Demps. They already know him, and he's done the job before. Saves a real search.

Reading this is depressing. If Dell still keeps his job after all these bad deals, it will show that Mickey Loomis/whoever is really in charge isn't committed to winning.

Regardless of who you hire, Demps and the entire regime has to go.
It’s assinine to allow them to stay on at this point.
The GM job is actually attractive if you allow someone to come in and work this out; preferably someone who has experience in retooling, like the person you mentioned.
It’s a golden opportunity (optimistically) that you will get a chance to get a tremendous haul for the best player, in his prime, in the league.
This CANNOT be screwed up.
Why on earth would you let Demps facilitate this deal when he should be all out the door.
Let me give you some Demps facts:
307-383 WL record
(80 games under 500)
Traded 6 first round picks in a row
3 winning seasons in 8 years
(The above facts are not my own; from twitter)
Those are GOD AWFUL.
Start fresh-stockpile picks and young talent who want to be here.
For the record, I hate Kuzma, Ball and the rest of the junk LA has to offer.

May as well start the process of accepting this scenario.

We don't know, but the first step to building a winner is to collect assets. We're living now what happens when not collecting enough assets.
