Expected roster moves for next year?

Watching the game tonight I got to thinking about how this roster isn’t that far off.

What do we do about Cousins?
If we can sign him it will cost a lot, and I’m not sure a Davis/Mirotic combo isn’t a better fit going forward that’s also cheaper and allows us to spend $ elsewhere

What do we do about Rondo?
I hope we sign him. The offense flows well with him running it and frees Jrue up to be more of a scorer

Any chance to dump Solomon Hill? His contract is hurting us and we aren’t getting anything from him.

Any other moves we could realistically make?

We resign Boogie. Things were really starting to click right before he was injured. Mirotic will be essential next year while Boogie rounds into shape.

Boogie won’t be playing starters minutes next year until around the AllStar break..at best.

Niko will be essential. shite Boogie might not even start regularly until a few months into the year.

Achilles injuries are no joke.

Sure it may allow us to spend some money elsewhere if we don’t resign boogie, but not nearly as much as we could offer him. That’s just how the salary cap works.

Rondo’s leadership has been a big reason why we’ve had so much fight in us. That’s what we’ve missed in previous years. Would love to see him back

Re-signing Boogie will doom this franchise. I fully expect it to happen. He’ll be our new Asik

Kind of one of those damned if you don’t situations. There’s no way to replace him since we will be operating at the cap. Won’t have any cap space.

We won’t have cap space if we let him walk?

I’m not a cap expert but we will have I think around 14 mill at most.

We would need to dump Ajinca and Solo to make any major moves

We are at 94.5 already for next year without Boogie. Cap was 94.1 this year. So no, we wont have cap room even if we dont bring him back. Not sure what it will be next year, but we wont have much anyway.

Or at least we won’t be far from the cap.

Boogie should still be a relatively productive player, he just may be very overpaid for it. Nicolas Batum in Charlotte is a better comp than Asik who is unplayable. Batum had been a slightly above average player in Portland, Charlotte trades for him and pays him $25 million and he declines to a slightly below average player. Boogie is not going to fall off a cliff, he'll still be an above average player with his size and skill, but he's going to be paid like a superstar.

Also, you know you didn't want him to begin with and wouldn't have liked the resigning if he were fully healthy, so you're naturally pessimistically biased on how this is going to work out.

Maybe like 8 mil in cap space if boogie walks, it’s been a little while since I’ve looked at it, but I think that’s right.

The best way to get better next season is to resign boogie, and trade Moore+Ajinca+pick for another guard or wing.

Current cap projection for 2018 is 101. And obviously that could go down. So we are looking at 7 mill in space which makes no sense for us to operate at.

You either re-sign Boog and operate above the cap or you go scorched earth and shed salary through every means necessary. Going with Boog is probably the only move.

Boogie presents a big and not so easy decision

Love the optimism but history tells us this is false.
