Per the Athletic:

quote:

Steph Curry and Zion Williamson will share a court — virtually — with the Avengers next month, as ESPN and Marvel plan to collaborate on a special alternate telecast of the Warriors-Pelicans game on May 3.

quote:

The broadcast, "Marvel’s Arena of Heroes," will be driven by a Marvel storyline in which the Avengers look to recruit Warriors and Pelicans players to fight alongside them against an invading alien army. Using 3D virtual characters, custom graphics and animation packages, the telecast will include characters such as Iron Man, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Captain America, Black Widow and Doctor Strange.

Y'all need to lighten up, it's an alternative broadcast.

"The players the Avengers will "scout" Curry, Williamson, Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins, Brandon Ingram and Lonzo Ball. Players will gain "Marvel Hero" points for every point, rebound, assist, steal and block, losing points for missed field goals, free throws and turnovers. The player with the most "Marvel Hero" points on the winning team will be crowned Marvel Champion."

Here's to hoping Good Lonzo shows up and that Bad Lonzo doesn't score negative points.

This seems similar to what Nickelodeon did with the Saints playoff game. Not my cup of tea, but they weren’t targeting me. Seems like that went over fairly well.

Anxiously awaiting the Baron memes

Stan Van Gundy is... The Masked Tweeter! (The Hedgehog is also acceptable)

Zion Williamson is... Rhino!

Brandon Ingram is... Bluntman!

Lonzo Ball is... The Chucker!

It's an alternative broadcast, so if you don't want to watch it, you don't have to.

Similar to the NFL/Nickelodeon game, this is a pretty good opportunity to grow the Pelicans brand to unreached demographics and is a pretty big deal for a small market team.

Marvel also sees the Pelicans as a tool to grow their own brand, which is also a pretty big deal and something to be happy about.

Less important: AD had to go to LA to get Space Jam 2 and still can't get a signature shoe, Marvel announces they are coming to NOLA right after Zion's signature shoe drops.
