Couple People like the Pels Draft:
Pelton: E.J. Liddell follows the footsteps of New Orleans Pelicans teammate Herb Jones by making the All-Rookie team as a second-round pick.
Gutierrez: Dyson Daniels will be a rotation player for a Pelicans team that finishes in the top four in the Western Conference. The No. 8 pick has the build and defensive ability to be an instant impact player, and he also has an IQ that should help on a balanced New Orleans roster.

the best thing about the Daniels pick is the pels evidently got the guy they wanted, no ragerts
the second best thing about the pick is we don’t have to play the what-if game with sharpe

Before the draft, I put in $100 for us to win the conference at +2500. I think that the real odds for us to win the West should be something more like +600.

If anyone wants to start their own thread, everyone who knows what they’re talking about has the Pistons at #1 in the draft now that’s it’s been graded.
Guess who’s #2? I’ll give you a hint:

2. New Orleans Pelicans

The Pelicans kept it simple on draft night but did everything right. Daniels is the type of NBA-ready, defensive-minded playmaker New Orleans' emerging roster needs to take another step toward being a perennial playoff team. Later in the draft, the Pelicans got a steal in junior forward Liddell, who many draft analysts — myself included — had mocked in the top-20

Why did liddell fall? I'm happy for sure, but I don't get it

He is considered undersized for the 4 IIRC.

So I'm all for this.

Might be time to dump Jax along with a couple of other players
Posted on 6/24/22 at 12:09 pm to PUB
With EJ on board there is no way we will keep Hayes, it doesn't make sense, moving him, Graham and Temple is a must.

Couple mistakes, cut the losses and move on.

Graham Temple and Jax combined- $11.5m + 6.8m + $5.2m = $23.5m outgoing
Best guess is that we take back a big expiring and possibly a small piece who can contribute, with the idea being that Jax is the center of any trade and gets a new contract.
Not thrilled with using Jax as a salary dump but clearing roster spots for our young guys is a big deal along with allowing room for extensions.

Graham was wasted money.
Temple was intentionally ballast for a trade, as he was intended to be shipped out with Sato when we made what became the CJ trade.
Instead, we used the Steven Adams TPE to take Nance because Portland didn’t want the salary
Edit - I also put the salaries in the wrong order. Temple’s making $5.2, Jax is making almost $7m. Graham’s still overpaid as frick though.

Hayes is a different player than Liddell right? Hayes is much taller and more of a rim protector than lidell

Hayes can’t defend the paint to save his life. If he could he would be a starter and Val would still be in Memphis.

Liddell is an aggressive rim defender, especially from the weak side. He's only 6'7", but has long arms and great timing. Plus, he just takes pride in his defense and has good lateral movement. He actually reminds me a lot of Nance, Jr.

Liddell has a thick body and can eat up space. No one can move him out. He has a Barkley/Dramon type body but is slightly taller at 6’7”. Also has great anticipation and timing. Will be much better defensively than Jax.
