Simple Question: Who would you prefer to have as the possible p.g. of the future? Granted, this is a hypothetical so let's just say in order to acquire Bledsoe, we would have to give up our Lottery Pick.

Burke

Strength:

Leader
Decent Shooter
Good Ball Handler
Good Passer
Playmaker

Weaknesses:
Undersized
Overall Athleticism

Bledsoe

Strengths:

Quick
Athletic
Long
Really Good Defender

Weaknesses:
Ability to run offense
Shooting

If we have to give up a lottery pick?

Burke.

I like Bledsoe, but not enough to give up a lottery pick AND pay him a huge contract.

Give me Trey Burke better shooter, ball handler and passer.

But I'll counter with Bledsoe being bigger/longer, better athlete, and really good defender.

I just would rather the guy who is about 3 years younger, we would have years before we would have to pay him a larger contract, and he's a better scorer (potentially).

If we didn't have to give up a lotto pick for Bledsoe and could draft an Otto Porter type, then obviously that's a plus.

If memory serves me correct, we wouldn't have to pay him right away. I believe he has one more year left. I think he will ultimately be paid handsomely but nowhere close to a max type deal.

Give me Burke if we'd have to give up our pick for Bledsoe.

Fair enough. I really like both but for some reason I think Burke will be on the Mike Conley career path (Not comparing his game to Conley's). I think it will take a number of years before he figures it out. I would still be estatic if we selected him.

I'll take Burke

I'm not quite as enamored with Bledsoe as some on this board are

Burke was that rare guard that was a great scorer and passer in college.
I'm not high on Bledsoe as the starting guard for a good team.
Maybe he will prove me wrong but give me the offensive point with ok defensive vs the defensive guy.

I would have to take Burke, too. I like Eric Bledsoe and I also like Trey Burke, but Burke takes the cake. Mainly because he's younger and overall, a better point guard than Bledsoe, plus he would be a lot cheaper. Bledsoe isn't worth the $35 million he's likely to get. Not as a guy who's not really a special PG. My 2 cents.

Burke on a rookie contract vs. Bledsoe on an extended contract + assets is very lopsided imo. Say we do get Bledsoe this offseason and he doesn't extend right away. If he has the impact that we all think that he can this year, the dude will get 10+ a year. I would actually rather Bledsoe be a RFA so we could get him locked up now before he gets showcased.

Me either. I think he's a really good backup PG, but as a starter I'm not sold on him. His role/situation reminds me a lot of Collison.

Burke
I won't be surprised if Burke's stock doesn't rise after pre draft workouts and he goes Top 3-5. I watched a lot of Michigan and what I saw consistently was similar to CP3@ Wake Forest. If he works hard, CP3-like career or better. I would dare to say I'd rather Burke than CP back in NO.

Speaking of Burke and the top 5...

There was a story out the other day that the Orlando Magic were sorely disappointed that Marcus Smart returned to school, as they would have taken him first overall.

Given their relative glut at the 2 and the 3, what are the chances they take Burke if they don't get Noel?

Burke if that's the case. I don't like Derrick Rose type point guards. I want CP3, Rondo, Nash, etc type PG's. Distributors first and shooting guard second.
