Dyson Daniels had (in my view) the most impressive showing of any prospect on the Pro Day circuit at the NBA Combine, shooting the lights out and looking like he still has immense potential he's yet to tap into. Starting to generate some top-five pick buzz.

Looks like there’s a possibility he won’t be there at 8.

Might push some guys down.

I was just talking myself into him at 8....

Daniels and Herb would be a lethal defensive duo.

Interesting. Vecenie compared him to Josh Hart and the “other Villanova guards/wings”. Not a bad player by any stretch, but doesn’t sound like a top 5 pick. I wonder what else he is showing. I think he killed the agility drills at the combine.

I have been talking myself into he, Sochan, and Dieng will be three guys that climb boards. Daniels and Sochan are to good all around and Dieng’s ceiling is to high.

The question with him was his shooting. Apparently he’s lighting it up

His numbers from 3 were pretty bad last year (I think like 25%) but his FT% was fine and the form and release all looked good. It’s why I really wanted him and wasn’t worried about teaching him how to shoot when we have Vinson. I’d be pretty devastated if both Sharpe and Daniels go right before our pick

Good from the push/midrange game as well. I would bet on a guy like that to develop his shot.

I think Daniels potential is significantly higher than Diengs.

Said in another thread, he reminds me of Herb on defense. Was hoping for him or Mathurin.

More power to him.

If he makes it to 5, that means someone like Sharpe or Keegan Murray may fall a few spots, or at least ensure Mathurin is at 8 if we want him.

We’re gonna end up with AJ Griffin won’t we? I’d rather trade it if that’s the case

Worst case scenario for me is we draft AJ Griffin.

His defense is putrid.

Griffin’s decision not to measure at the combine could come back to haunt him on draft night.

Good news...makes it more likely we'll end up with Sochan

If it’s HS level athleticism AJ Griffin then it’s a different story…not sure I ever saw him do this at Duke last year. Wondering if the leg injuries either weren’t fully healed or he has lost some pop.

If he can get back to being a high flyer with that physique and a 40%+ 3pt shot then he’s no second fiddle…but that’s an important “if”.

He wasn’t fine from the FT line. He shot 53% lol

He did shoot 45% from 3 over his last 9 games, so that is a positive.

If he’s moving up that high, I would be cool with trading down to 12 with OKC.

If he's moving up rather than someone else falling, then that means someone with better value than expected will be at 8. Ironically I think that makes it more likely that the Pels trade back.

ETA: from a Shamit retweet, a clip of Daniels knocking down 3s.
LINK

He went 9 of 9 in the clip. I remember hearing at some point this season that Trey went 48/50 in his workout. I wonder how many makes with no defender gets you into the shooter category.

Also from Shamit, someone found Griff watching Daniels workout. The one on the right, not left.

Im looking at his G League regular season stats last year where he shot 73% from the line. I am assuming you are including the G League summer league stats from last summer where he was 10-26 fr the line.
