With both looking to be out next year, would golden state really sign both?

La Lakers likely won't chase klay knowing it's a wasted year. Desperation to trade for AD now?

90% chance Klay is good to go by December at the latest

This shitshow could not have gone better for the Pelicans...

Karma has completely changed since chuckwheat said he wanted to be traded..

Fire dell, we get Griffin, we get Zion, magic steps down, KD tanks the market, boogie loses, we bout to send AD & Solo to Boston for a treasure trove... I mean really..the flapping has begun...

I think they sign Klay, an ACL injury is not as long a recovery as it used to be. He should be back at the all star break at the latest, probably sooner.

KD on the other hand will be very interesting based on what just happened with Boogie’s return from an Achilles. I think he leaves but for no more than a 2 year deal to see if he comes back the same player which is unlikely.

Either way, AD is now clear cut the biggest target on the market so more teams could show interest and drive his price up

I could see KD signing a 2 year deal with the Knicks

They're desperate enough and he's been linked there many times

The only thing this could possibly change which impacts the Pels is does Kyrie think a contention window opens if he plays with AD in Boston vs being the best player in Brooklyn?

I don't think this opens up any dark horse teams at all. The problem with teams trading for AD was never demand, it was the supply of spare assets they had to give up to get him. The Lakers, Knicks and Celtics are unique in their ability to potentially contend after trading significant assets for AD. If Portland or Houston had more to give I'd throw them in there too.

Portland wouldn’t be near the top but they could make a compelling offer. Houston has nothing at all.

With Klay's injury being an ACL, it highly benefits us.

Golden State is down to Curry, Green, and supporting cast for most, if not all, of next season.

Other teams will be chomping at the bit to get pieces for next season but, with KD and Klay out of commission, it means two fewer high end players available on the FA market.

Which means that the trade market for AD just skyrocketed IMHO.

Right, but my point was Portland and Houston could build a contender out of Lillard/Harden plus AD and a bunch of ring chasing vet minimums. So they could gut their team and still feel comfortable trading for AD. Unfortunately they don't have enough of a team to gut to make it worth our while.

I'd be careful talking karma while gloating about benefitting from injuries.

I know bridges are still burning, but the way star players are dropping like flies, AD should really consider signing the SuperMax.

What we need is a new agent to sell AD a new vision. "You know all that money Klutch told you they could make you with endorsements? I can get that same money for you and put you on a team with another generational talent and an All Star level player. All you have to do is publicly fire Klutch and throw them under the bus, I'll take care of the rest."

Klay was unlikely to leave. KD might still go and teams will still max him out. FA may not have changed at all.

The landscape of the 19/20 season has changed because of the injuries. Maybe that entices some more teams to enter the fray, but as others have pointed out, there aren't a lot of teams with things to offer

I get that, but I bet Klay and KD both get max deals

But Klay being out some or all of this season makes Golden State much more vulnerable than in last years.

That alone opens things up to teams like Houston looking to get a title.

not gloating, just making a factual statement about the free agent market now as to before what went down in GS...

So would GS essentially just punt next season if they max KD and Klay? How much could they realistically add to keep them afloat until Klay comes back after the ASB.

At the latest? ACL is typically 6-9 months I believe. And most players aren't the same for the first year or so.

That post is from last night

To answer OP, this benefits us if you want a deal with LAL

Does it though? I guess maybe this makes them more likely to throw a godfather offer with all the future picks/swaps, but outside of that what more can they add? Nobody actually believes Kuzma is off the table.

I think more teams will feel entitled to ( go for it). So it can only help if anything.
