It’s being reported that Drummond will be bought out after no trades materialized. So we gave up a first, two 2nds, and George Hill (more assets) for Adams when Drummond could have been had for a measly 2nd or even free.
Same age as Adams, also on an expiring, but only HOF players have more 20-20 games than Drummond.
Jarret Allen went for only a first.
Or you could have received a first and a 2nd for taking on Horford.
Looks like of all the big men trades, Griff chose the worse path.

Or we couldve kept the first and 2 seconds we traded for Adams and probably used those assets to trade for Aaron Gordon today. And even if we didn’t we couldve picked up a guy like Bane at 25.

Griff fricked up and it’s nauseating to think about.

I love Adams, but was against the trade. Didn’t make sense then, and it doesn’t make sense now.

I love Adams also. I thought SVG would use him for PNRs in which he excels at and he doesn’t even do that for us. I guess they wanted a gritty veteran to coach Hayes. Which is somewhat working since he has been improving.

Sucks because they had a lot of good role players around that time too. Also OKC was begging someone to take Adams

Adams is defensively productive.

Drummond has never been good defensively IIRC while Horford is breaking down.

Neither is really a replacement for what we were going for with Adams at this point in their careers.

Adams is honestly a bad defender in today’s nba. He can’t effectively guard most pick and rolls or the rim. He’s usually in the semi right spot (i think he sags off shooters too much- not because he’s dumb, but because he’s slow) and he rebounds at an elite lev. That’s it.

Hayes is a much better defender and he still barely knows what he is doing out there.

We shouldve just let Adams play this year out. We could have probably resigned him for 8-9m a year with no trade kicker if we really wanted to.

Drummond is not better than Adams

Buddy lost his trade value after Jahlil Okafor destroyed him last year

The hyperbole used to describe Adams on this board cracks me up. Adams was a interior anchor to a top ten defense as far back as last season. Many of you on this board act like he’s Omer Asik round 2. He was getting 30 mpg in the playoffs last year against the pocket Rockets and his team was a 3pter away from advancing to the second round.

Adams is bad because the Pelicans defense is bad. I’m not saying the Adams is a world beater by any means and he is over paid, but he’s not a scrub that many on this board says he is.

this!

if we didnt have Adams we might have the softest defense since the 07 Suns

I mean Who would our center have been coming into the season?

Willy has visa issues and Hates was terrible until recently.

This board hates Hayes like 3 weeks ago.

Exactly.

Adams is smart and usually in the right spot. He isn't an athletic as he used to be and that's the difference.

Drummond is one of the best if not best rebounder in the league and scores more than Adams. Adams defense is better. I’m just saying Drummond would not have cost much in a trade. And now we will be saddled with an overpaid Adams for the next two years.

You also have to consider what a player brings to the locker room.

I don't know much about Drummond's intangibles, but all I've heard about Adams is good on that front. Having a great mentor for Zion the first few years of his career could be the biggest longterm payoff a big man could bring to this organization.

Agree. He is quickly showing signs of his body breaking down due to all the wear and tear it has on it. He is not a rim protector at all and hot and cold on defense.

The problem isn't Adams from a individual standpoint. The problem is the things SVG is asking him to do....it is kinda unreasonable. Asking a guy like Adams to quard all the way out to the 3 point line is hurting him and taking him out of what he does best.

Let's be honest here. Our Forwards do not have the range to help Adams right now. Ideally you'd need Zion to cover ground like what a Bam Adebayo can cover for this to work with Adams. Zion isn't ready for that burden yet and Ingram will never have that kind of defensive range.

This is why Hayes is such a vital component as he has the ability to alter and erase shots. His mobility and recovery speed make him special for a big. He can single-handedly erase a mistake and make it difficult for the opposing players to get a easy shot in the paint. If he develops into a starting caliber center, he's basically a unicorn.

Griff has the world's most giant hard on for overpaying slow centres that cannot shoot. It's his legacy

He's just betting against himself, like Dell did with Asik

The last thing this team would need is Drummond with the ball in his hands instead of Zion or BI. He is a good role player who thinks he is a star. Which would be AWFUL for the growth of our young guys.

Until Drummond decides to take a "current day Dwight Howard" role seriously, I want him nowhere close to a team I like.

Adams isn't hurting our team other than the contract. But it's cool you think a GM should be able to see into the future and know how free agency is going to play out for every team and know who's going to be bought out or not.

Watching Drummond play for the lakers helps us more than it helps the lakers. Guy is doing terrible for them.

Also Lebron James seems to have lost a step. Guy is about to turn 37 end of the year. AD cannot carry a team. Schroeder might leave. I’m thinking we will get a good pick in 2022.

hes a stat padding losing player

And you better hope Dennis re-signs for the 20 mil the lakers initially offered him. That’ll be the end for them
