In my opinion, Davis has tried his best to remain loyal to the Pelicans. Given the obvious incompetence of Dell Demps, I understand Davis' wanting out of this situation; he wants to be part of an organization that is committed to excellence. The Asik situation alone warranted the firing of Demps. Hill, the Frenchman, etc. all point to gross incompetence. Right the ship Mrs. Benson, or the Pelicans will flop.

Yes i'm blaming him. James Harden has less and his team is a finals contender. Russell Westbrook had much much less and got his team to the playoffs.
AD claims he's the best player in the world, yet he's had 2 winning seasons his 7 years here.
He's got no will to win. Disappears far too often late in games.

Davis is not without blame but we've had close to a decade to put a formidable team around him and continued to fail. I can't say I really blame him for having no faith in the FO to get it done in the future.

the NBA team up culture does suck though

Again, he has had teams just as good as what Westbrook drug to the playoffs. He and Jrue are both second bananas.

In 6 full seasons, Davis has played exactly 5 seasons worth of games. He’s part of the problem. Availability is a requirement

Why did Chris, David, and Boogie leave? Same reason.

AD deserves all the heat for the way he has handled things. What was the point of Rich Paul making the announcement public today? Answer- to try to force the Pelicans’ to go ahead and make the trade to LA before Boston gets in the mix. Demps, Gentry and the FO are all with fault but AD is not exempt from the blame. The Pels have tried to do all the could to coddle him. The trade for Jrue was obviously a success. The trade for Boogie could have been a success without the bad luck. Preseason he was shooting off at the mouth about how he wanted to be MVP. Then after the first four games, he doesn’t want to play like it. May the future bestow upon him the same fate as Chris Paul.

It's not nearly as easy for big men to carry teams, the league is guard driven with heavy outside scoring

If you think the inability to win is more on the shoulders of AD not carrying than our front office being competent, you are just wrong

I bet he's no longer injury prone when he gets to the Lakers.

Westbrook and Davis are entirely two different players. One constantly has the ball in his hands and the other doesn't. Davis still manages to put up monster numbers even without dominating the ball. I swear some of y'all are just ignorant when it comes to basketball IQ. Laying this blame at Davis' feet is just ignorant.

And our shitbird medical staff is part of that problem. We don't have the worst injury luck in the league by accident.

Anyone who watched games like when we played the Clippers a few games ago understands what the real problem with AD is. Sure he dropped 46, but he didn't score for most of the 4th quarter and we nearly blew a 20+ point lead.

AD wants to be a winner, but he is not tough enough to go out there and stomp on the other team's throat. He is scared to take over games in crunch time, and it causes him to make dumb passes or jack up contested 3's.

Most of the blame is on Dell and Gentry that AD needs to drop 40 a night for the Pels to win, but James Harden is tasked with having to do it and look how the Rockets are doing (same with Westbrook and the Thunder).

Davis is a weak arse leader who isn’t vocal at all. He’s not a number 1 on a team

Everyone involved deserves a share of the blame including AD, other players, coaches, management and owner.

Pels need new GM and coach. Let the new "braintrust" get the best deal for AD in the off season and start fresh IMO. Get players and picks for AD to fit new coaches style and move forward. Make other trades where appropriate.

I could not agree more with this statement. Don't forget about the time AD went nearly a quarter and a half without taking a shot. If he wants to be anything close to the best player in the world, he has to demand the ball both during and at the end of games.

And to another point, I absolutely blame Anthony Davis for hiring LeBron's water boy to be his agent. Does anyone think Paul is not going to do everything possible to do what is best for LeBron?
