Doc may not be the best “coach,” but he has qualities that would be extremely welcomed in this organization that the average fan doesn’t worry about when it comes to the coach

I just don’t think he fits well with Griff, but I may be wrong. Hell, DG might’ve been waiting for this very moment and had Doc in his crosshairs the whole time. Who knows?

Anybody who would want Doc hasn't paid attention in years and is only going off his titles in Boston.

people can use the performance he had with his clippers team 2 seasons ago with a bunch of scrappy vets and young players and how well they played. Even against the warriors in the post season. Though it was still an 8 seeded team with a first round exit. Better than expected that season however

To be honest, with a team like the Clippers loaded with quality veteran depth and 2 star players, there’s really nothing left to say. They know what the stakes are and know what needs to be done. They’re not a young team that needs constant motivation like the Celtics club.

The disappointment is moreso on the players than the staff. They didn’t play with enough heart.

The Clippers were backed into a corner. Coach is about the only thing they can change. I also think promoting Lue isn’t a sure thing. He’s been Doc’s assistant pretty much his whole career except when he was coaching in Cleveland. I wonder if Ballmer is looking for a more significant change of direction.

Honestly, I used to be the same way, but he proved a lot just the other year when he took a team of veteran role players, young prospects, and no star to the playoffs and stole two games from GS.

I’m not saying he isn’t a bit overrated, but he’s not a bad coach. Better than average, and he seems to have a solid eye for filling out a coaching staff and knowing where to give them autonomy to control parts of the team and where to overrule.

Cant see Griffin going that direction, but I’d put him near the top of the list of the veteran coaches out there at this moment....Assuming there isn’t some underlying issue at play here that changes that calculation.

Stop it. Doc Rivers would be the best coach the Pels have ever had. Say you don’t think he’s the right fit. Don’t say he’s a bad coach. Cause it looks bad coming from a fan base of a losing team. He’s a great coach that’s not good in the big games. Games we haven’t reached. Stop acting like if he became our coach, we’d be bad. You looking for this home run hire, that just might not even be out there

You would think Balmer would be one to go for a significant hire or out of the box thinking.

I said in another thread the Clippers organization has shown themselves to be reactionary, this sort of changes that for me barring some not yet reported issue for this move.

What I saw this season with the Clips was more self motivation issues and the sort of year one growing pains you expect with this sort of team.

I think the good thing about this opening is that whoever comes in is likely going to benefit enormously from a Kawhi and George that get a full offseason and a lot of chip-on-the-shoulder motivation to prove the doubters wrong.

Doc Rivers had two years left on his contract, sources tell ESPN. This is a challenging coaching search for Clippers, who are the ultimate win-now team. Among top candidates in the marketplace: Clippers assistant Ty Lue and former Rockets and Knicks coach Jeff Van Gundy.

It sounds like Houston is all in on Van Gundy but it would be pretty hilarious the Clippers snatch him.

Mother!

I'm just very confident, as it's been stated already, we can't remotely afford him and he'll want more control than we'll give him.

The Pelicans having a horrible history doesn’t mean that we should be happy with “better than what we’re used to”

Especially when we have more hope than ever for becoming a really good team.
