Do you think AD said he wanted out just to send a wake up call to NOLA Brass?

Before AD did what he did, this franchise was lethargic and basically didn't show a commitment to creating a highly competitive team built for long term success.

AD comes out and says he wants out and with the hiring of one man, our entire culture has changed. I don't know if AD will decide to stay, but the moves made by Gayle and Griffin and acquiring the #1 pick recently has to give AD a reason to pause and re-evaluate his situation.

Absolutely not.

He wanted to be a Laker. He was sold a bill of goods by Lebron and Klutch, and, let's be honest, Magic Johnson, about teaming up with Lebron and being a Laker. He bought a giant mansion in LA.

He wanted to be a huge star in a huge media market. He wanted to finally have big endorsements and the glitz and glamour.

He couldn't have given two shits about what it would do to us.

No, he isn’t that smart to pull a chess move like that.

Furthermore:

Would Klutch go along with this, destroying their most important client's team (and a guy that is a de facto owner of Klutch)?

And if it was the case AD would have already let it leak to Woj or Shams that he is having a change of heart.

Not a peep.

AD doesn’t owe any team anything . He wants out, maximize his worth and good luck to him . No way he comes back

AD wanted more visibility in a bigger market. The winning (lack of) was just a public front.

This is messed up belief. Players owe the game, fans and their teams. Loyalty is a two way street. This franchise gave him everything, made him a star, rich beyond his wildest dreams and the fans adored him. If that doesn't build somekind of devotion, then he deserves all the flack he is getting. His worth is beyond maximized. His income will actually go down. This is what happens when you go with a street agent that is in over his head..

You could put AD in a market the size of Sioux City and it wouldn’t change his visibility because he has the personality of a lobster.

I don't think his primary reason for asking out was to be on the Lakers. Sure, I'd be willing to bet that was his preferred destination. But the last few months have really opened my eyes as to how dysfunctional this organization has been ran. Seeing the changes we've made recently have really shown how uncommitted our ownership was in the past, and it really is a shame.

I don't buy that he is out to get us or has always hated NOLA. I think he meant it when he said he really wanted to win here. But along the way he realized that ownership didn't have the same desire to win here as he did so he wanted out. Now, I don't think he handled it well but that doesn't mean he only wanted to be a Laker.

Look at it like this, if we made these organizational changes in the summer of 2017, do you think AD still requests a trade during last year? I don't think so. I do think he was done before we even started the 2018 season which I don't really respect. But it is what it is.

That is on him. You can't miss 20 games a year, play how you want, the position you want, lobby for all your friends that aren't that great and expect the team to contend. It just doesn't work that way..

I meant that the organization didn't care enough. They didn't care enough to hire a competent medical staff who has experience dealing with NBA players (which probably would've helped Davis miss less than those 20 games a year that you pointed out). They gave Dell Demps next to no resources that would've helped him be more successful all the while mandating that he do everything he can to win now which caused us to rush a rebuild. They just never truly invested in this franchise until now.

I don't think he went to Rich Paul / Lebron and said "get me to the Lakers"

I do think he went to his agent and said "get me out of this train wreck organization", and Rich Paul saw an opportunity to (a) move AD to a large market and (b) help Lebron get the second star he needs to actually win games

once the wheels were in motion, they tried to use the "I only want LA" poison pill to force the Pels' hand, and Gayle told him to frick off
