Add Pels 2018 1st

I've proposed this trade before. I hope this is how it ends up.

Just to be sure. Mirotic wants the Bulls to pick up the team option before the trade so that he’s guaranteed for next year?

As opposed to coming to New Orleans unsure of we would pick up his option of let him hit FA?

At first I liked the idea of Holiday coming in the deal, but Grant is probably the better option.

I'm told the #Peicans largest concern regarding the Mirotic $12.5 million team option is ensuring they have enough cap space on hand this summer to re-sign DeMarcus Cousins.

We don't need cap space to resign Boogie. I'm assuming he means staying below the luxury tax.

The Cousins injury scares the hell out of me. That's a big guy to return to form on a repaired Achilles. Maxing a guy when you're not sure he'll recover fully is too familiar.

Not sure how far we are from the hard cap, though.

I don't know. I would think you could flip Mirotic or Moore this summer to stay out of the tax. I'm almost thinking we're hardballing Chicago. McNamara had been talking about how sellers outnumbering buyers means the Pels have leverage. Zach Lowe commented on how hard a good 1st is to come by in trade. What Kushner heard sounds to me like "We'd really love to give you this first for Mirotic, but if you don't take Ajinca too, I'm afraid we'll have to look elsewhere."

If we get rid of Asik and Ajinca in one trade I’ll be over the moon

Understandable. So the question becomes are we willing to add a second rounder and/or Diallo to include Ajinca while only taking back Grant?

Boogie's injury scares the hell out of me also. I wouldn't max him over 5; I would offer him the exact contract that Jrue signed.

I would want to offer him the 2 year max. It gives us flexibility if he doesn't recover and if he does he can resign for the supermax in 20-21.

Well no shite. Hopefully dealing dell is playing hardball with them and trying to get holiday or grant too.

I would be falling over myself to accept that. Diallo is probably at least 2 years away from being a competent rotation player. Seconds are less exciting than that, especially if we can keep out of lottery range. Mid-to-late seconds are flyers.

I think you have to do 3 min. If he gets a 2 year deal and doesn’t return to form he fricks himself for future earnings

Boogie likely signs a 2+1. He gets 3 years of salary if he doesn't come back and can sign a 10 year max if he does recover fully.
