I am fine if outside consultants are heading a search and not Mickey Loomis.
Still, ultimately, you want a your final decision maker to have a better understanding of what makes a great basketball general manager and POBO. There will be a recommendation & secondary choices. This is a big decision.

The search aided by outside consultants is to identify a "new leader of basketball operations". Pretty sure they are using outside consultants to select a POBO who will report directly to the owner (who will be advised by Lauscha). Mickey has removed himself from the Pels.
What more can they do? This is exactly what they should be doing.

I understand what they are doing, that's all I wanted them to do.
My point is, despite lacking all knowledge regarding anything basketball, Gayle Benson still makes the pick. Let's hope it's the right one

I’m sure it’ll be a team decision, and they will ask for the League to provide guidance. They did that in 2006 with the NFL and it was the league that gave them Payton as a candidate.

Gayle Benson aided by Lauscha and outside consultants (and likely a recommendation from Silver). I don't get the fear. It's not going to be like Pera hiring Hollinger.
