I was wondering if you could confirm or deny with sources or even give your opinion on the topic. I generally highly value your input when it comes to player status within the organization as you’ve completely been right in the past quite a bit. I’ve noticed you’ve been pretty silent on the matter.

I’ll even give my thoughts on what it appears like to me considering all the factors we’re seeing and you could even tell me if I’m really close or not if it’s an issue you don’t want to publicly comment on directly.

How I See It:
AD is quite literally straddling the fence right now.

These comments from Lebron in the media and these rumors spreading around are just setting the foundation if AD were to request a trade to keep him in a positive light. They saw the enormous backlash to KD going to GSW and they absolutely want to prepare for the worst case scenario. I think it’s less likely, but if the Pels were to go on a playoff run similar to OKC, you could see a backlash if AD decided he wanted to go to the Lakers.

The other side is AD has not given up on this team. He’s got people he’s very close to here. He knows we are dealing with injuries currently, and he knows we need to get healthy. He publicly came out and said he wasn’t worried about those comments to calm some of the storm clouds. He’s probably really hoping we make an impact move. There’s still a very real possibility he could stay here.

He just really doesn’t know, but considering you know which way Lebron and his agent are pulling him, it’s a good thing the well isn’t poisoned yet.

Side note: people, I urge you to go back to the beginning of this season before it even started for some perspective. Almost everyone knew how important this season was to keeping AD in NOLA long term. Right now the team is failing at its goal. We all knew the stakes. So instead of acting negative because the ball is bouncing the wrong way for our megastar right now, I BEG you to please stay positive on the AD front. We will need all the help we can get in retaining him. Don’t contribute to the other side. The only thing anyone is doing by continuing this negative narrative is simply helping nudge AD out the door.

If you don’t want AD on this team long term, I’m not sure what to tell you. That’s your opinion. I disagree completely, but you could possibly be right, but very rarely do you win a trade even if you get 4 quarters for the dollar in this league, which itself is difficult enough.

Why would any fan stay positive on the AD front? He looks mentally checked out, the wolves are at the gate, our team sucks, and we all know Dell is going to do a desperate "swing for the fences" move.

He doesn’t look checked out, he looks annoyed and frustrated. I think people forget what “checked out” really looks like. The way AD is playing right now is nowhere near the effort level we got from Chris Paul on his way out.

Seriously though, how many people have had a stomach bug and are holding their abdomen because they need to throw up? 99/100 you got the bubble guts and the shits. He could have easily phoned it in last night and just sat out. Instead he was out there doing what everyone claims he never does, trying to win the game by himself on the offensive end in the 4th quarter.

Anthony Davis did not lose us that game last night. Alvin Gentry’s shite rotations and Jrue Holiday’s late game turnovers cost us our shot at that victory.

When it comes to the scoop inside the orginization and releasing info, he’s the best we got you ninkompoops. Just because he’s an a-hole to people on this board doesn’t mean he hasn’t called this shite in the past. He was dead on with Holiday and Cousins in recent years.

There is a huge difference between the two scenarios, and people need to stop comparing them.
The Hornets gave up on CP3 when they tried trading Chandler to save money. CP3 gave up on the Hornets after getting his arse handed to him in the playoffs by the Nuggets when he was literally the only guy on the Hornets that looked like he gave a damn.
No one can blame CP3 for wanting out. He gave it his all, and the Hornets did not reciprocate.
Say what you want about the Pels front office, but they haven't done a bad job at least trying to surround AD with talent, and i'm confident they can do that before the start of next season.
The Pelicans are giving their all to keep AD.
The Hornets were in shambles, and did nothing to entice CP3 to want to be here for the future, and pissed him off little by little along the way to him leaving.

Not once did I blame Chris Paul for leaving at any part of that post. I just said if you want to see a player truly checked out, look at Chris Paul.

He won a college championship here and look at his quote from last night about even talking the local slang. That's a level of detail you don't need to give in a PlayerSpeak answer. His connection to the city is genuine. The Pels becoming relevant is the best case scenario for AD and he knows it. He'd get his money and his endorsement deals instead of needing endorsements to make up for the money he'd lose if he leaves.

I have no idea what AD is thinking. Don't talk to anyone in his camp. All I know is what at least one Pels decision maker thinks and he is not even entertaining AD leaving. Their singular focus is making the situation too attractive to walk away from

I do not think you are too far off with your assessment on "straddling the fence." Scott Kushner was on the Matt Moscona show about a week ago. It was Scott's opinion that Davis is viewed as a loyal guy and is looking for a reason to stay. He qualified that Davis would be prepared to leave (or ask for a trade) if he feels that the situation will not or has not improve.

I would imagine that opinion is pretty spot on, especially coming from a guy that covers the team and has actual sources. I think everyone is aware of what the team needs to do to keep him and is also aware that the team is currently not meeting that goal (but still can). It is easy to get caught up in the trade talk noise, but everyone needs to realize that the media makes money off drama like this. It wont anytime soon.

Amen. This board is unbelievable with all the contradictory fandom. At the beginning of the year everybody was as high as can be on AD, now that they're struggling its "AD has checked out."

That's such a weak argument. If you're going to complain, how about you complain about the things the team is doing wrong, not some cop out reason.

If we would have played halfway good defense, we would have won last night. Jrue and AD were the only ones who brought it on defense last night. At no point in the game (when he was on the floor) did he check out last night. Gtfo with that crap.

IVe probably called out crewz more than any other poster on this board, but I still respect his opinions when he isn’t cutting people down. He also replied in case you missed it. He’s not a bad dude. He’s just kind of a pompous arse to people sometimes. We’re all kind of pompous assholes on the internet sometimes though, whether we’re criticizing coaches and players or other posters. He just presents his opinions sometimes in a very abrasive way.

He also does legit have some connections inside the pels FO. Not sure why people dispute that.
