"I think the big winner in all of this is Anthony Davis. Because now he becomes the big fish that can change your fortunes. I think New Orleans and Anthony Davis that's going to be the big play in free agency."

I do not wish injury on anyone and hope KD is once again the player he was sooner rather than later.

But he's right. AD is now the big get. I think the desperate offers come in even more desperate.

Shamit had a good take along those lines too

My take on how this injury impacts the AD market is that I think it opens the title window wide open for many bubble teams.

AD can be the piece that takes them over the top and I only expect increased aggression towards acquiring him.

If Golden State is now vulnerable, the previously 2nd tier playoff teams may feel emboldened to go all in. Siakam was sitting on the bench most of the 4th last night, I wonder if Toronto would think about swinging big to build an AD/Kawhi core.

We keep talking about Irving and Durant and teams using AD to entice. For Sure Toronto still needs to entice Leonard. Not sure though as there is no “all star” in their package, just potential all star. Also they don’t have any good picks.

If Khawi leaves Toronto after winning a championship, he is a fricking moron.

Also, with the likelihood that this keeps KD in GS for a while, it makes me not want to trade AD to a western opponent such as Lakers even more.

Yup, agree there. I do not want to open up a super team in the Western Conference when THE super team is fading.

A western conference team would need to pay a drastic premium imo.

It’s a shame AD doesn’t realize his best bet to win a title is here

I think what he meant to say is, "I think the big winner in all of this is the Pelicans."

Davis isn't helped really at all, but if teams think they can grab Davis and contend they are going to be more willing to give up assets for him.

Would love to know what teams have the assets to trade for AD yet still be title contenders AND have a chance to re-sign him

Look, Durant was a FA. He was going to be added at no cost to any roster shake up. Trading for AD is not an applicable replacement for that.

Furthermore, it would be much more likely for a team to trade for AD with another superstar in place, such as Durant.

Call me crazy, but I don't see the Knicks simply not offering KD a max still. They desperately need a star, and I think they'll pay him for 1 year off to get another 3 years of KD.

For KD, it's that scary achilles injury, he's going to be 31 the next time he plays. It's probably in his best interest to take a max deal this offseason if offered.

They don't have to actually be title contenders. They just have to THINK they are/can be.

It removes a top 2-3 player from the NBA talent pool next season, which in turn makes someone like AD more valuable because he's moved up a slot in the hierarchy of NBA talent. There was also the possibility that KD stayed in GS, and it would be another season that GS would dominate.

Someone like the Nuggets could pull off a trade for AD and try to make a run at a championship next year.
