Can we take a second to appreciate just how talented the team will be when Zion steps in?

Zion couldn't ask for much better in terms of stepping into a team with a lot of talent.

Typically, first overall picks are stepping into a situation where the team that took them is desperate for them to step in as a day 1 messiah.

Lonzo and Jrue feeding him, Ingram taking pressure off of him on offense. We'll be insane on defense and have a very competent 3 & D bench player in Hart. That's not even counting what we can do with the #4 or our roughly 20 million in cap space.

The future is bright sons.

I’m sure he’s pretty damn excited about the future of this team now.

Draft Hunter and sign Dedmon to a 2 yr deal.

Dedmon decent 5 who can shoot. We need a shooting 5 to space the floor.

I mean there are certainly worse situations for him to step into. But let’s not act like he’s walking into a top 10 roster.

I’m not really excited about our roster outside of Jrue, Ingram and Zion. I think Lonzo COULD be good if he stays healthy same with Ingram. A lot of unknows. A lot of middling talent still BUT we’re going to be young and full of assets. This is a long term rebuild. We won’t be competing next year for much. Just hope Zion, Ingram, Lonzo and whatever we get out of #4 grow as players and get better together. This trade won’t pay off for us this year. But in 3-4 years, if things go right in the draft, and in the development of our talent, acquisition of a key free agent or two, we will be monsters.

I mean that’s a pretty good nucleus to build around. A top 20 player in the league, a young SF averaging 19 PPG, and the number one player in the draft plus 3-4 competent role players, the #4 pick in the draft and some decent cap space.

Say we resign Julius (or whoever) that'll be our starting center.

Julius
Zion
Ingram
Jrue
Ball

We will actually have a decent bench with

Okafor
Wood? Diallo?
Moore? #4 pick?
Hart
Frank

FUN TEAM NOW. BUT FUTURE IS VERY BRIGHT.
