I know for a fact the team was interested in Blake two seasons ago.

I could kind of see that because the offense runs through him but he's one of the best passing big men in the league. He's averaging 5.3 assists this year and 4.4 for his career. He can shoot the 3 too. I think he would fit well next to AD. Better than Demarcus.

Blake a big upgrade from Randle, but does that solve the perimeter shooting problem?

Maybe improves the D since Randel will be going out but you upgrade on the front court, but give up a first? Something else has to happen with it.

Blake is almost 30 and has a huge contract for the next 3 years (about $110 million). My concern is AD leaves and we are stuck with Griffin at a huge contract, on the down side of his career and likely even more injury issues as he ages.

He also doesn’t solve the problem of Jrue being the only perimeter player worth a shite in a league built on perimeter play.

It is intriguing but it has to be one part of some other big moves.

You only make this deal if you have some other deal where you take the other big you didn't trade and something else to get some perimeter guys.

But personally, I like Blake more as a 3-pt threat than Niko because he can create his own threes. He is taking an making them off the dribble and even step backs now, so I'd actually see this initial trade as a slight upgrade in outside shooting

i'd do that trade right now

Griffin is losing a step and injury history is scary, but he is still very good. he would be the best creator (maybe passer too) on the Pels

Yes, the Pistons just traded for him but that was a different regime. This regime could see the writing on the wall and know a rebuild is needed

Could they get a better offer? Possibly.

But I think that's a pretty good package for him.

That's not a good enough reason. If they shop him they could land a much better deal than that

Have you seen his contract?

Just saw he has a 15% trade kicker.

How do those work? Can he choose to waive it?

That would put him pretty much over $40m a year for the rest of his contract.

It would be a massive obstacle that likely would kill the deal if he refused to waive it. If AD told him he was staying, he might, but losing in Detroit isn't much worse than losing in NOLA, so I doubt he would if AD didn't committ

AD / Okafor
Griffin
/ Miller
Jrue / Moore
Payton/ Frank

Then it's how to swap Randle and possibly Moore for a starting caliber wing / SF . With Miller, Frazier, and Diallo being available for replacement.

The whole Randle for Brogdon run or seems puzzling to me. Don't see the fit of Randle with Giannis and the Bucks. But if available, that's an obvious yes. Wonder what some other options would be
