Seriously. Why do you post this shite here Alejandro?
What’s your purpose? Is it just keeping up your shtick?

This will be a thread.
He'll absolutely be on the team in 6 years.
Also, just a little FYI, of the 10-15 superstars in the league, I can think of only 2 that are currently with the team that drafted them, and 1 of those (Giannis) has yet to reach free agency. The other (Steph) was nearly traded twice.
I have full faith in Griffin and Gayle to create an environment that will lead Zion to retire a Pelican, but we are firmly in the age of player movement. We had a massive MASSIVE realignment this offseason, and we're going to have another one in just 2 years.

Get back to us in 5 years.
But first, life as it really is.

Zion and Giannis will break the trend and stay with their teams IMO.

Well I’m 5 or 6 years maybe I won’t give a shite and maybe Bill will still be perfecting his clickbait game
Posted on 7/11/19 at 11:30 pm to SirWinston
Let me guess... Bill thinks he’ll be a Celtic

Whatever bill says or predicts, usually the opposite happens

Bill Simmons is a liberal beta cuck jackass, so there’s that.

Also very true
To be honest, I haven't listened to the pod yet, but I imagine he's just following the train of thought he and his guests have had on the last several podcasts. Players are just going to move in this new era of the NBA. Like he's not saying Zion will leave because NOLA sucks. But that he will leave because that's just what NBA players do these days.
Again, I have full faith in our ownership and FO to prove him dead wrong.

Oh he’s liberal. Ok got it. Must not know about the NBA then... obviously, right? Everyone knows only conservatives who obviously are alpha’s, know the NBA best! Go conservative NBA movement!

Of course he won’t be.
It sucks but it’s the reality of the situation. It’s just not a marketable town. Zion will ask for help. Griffin will do everything in his power, but no big time FA will come.
Zion will want our. TD will call him weak and soft for not wanting to play and give his body and best years for a lame duck franchise. He will be hated. Pels will get a top 3 pick again.
Rinse and repeat. It seems like I’ve seen this scenario play out before...

damn you haven't jumped off a bridge yet bc of your shitty Lakers team?

Simmons has been nothing but starry eyed about the Pels since Griff and Co. took over.
That said, this to me is more indicative of one of the more annoying trends in NBA punditry. The notion that whatever big thing happened today will be the way all things go ad infintum.
The same people a year ago would be saying how the league is going to be nothing but super mega teams, but now Kawhi and Durant made a personal decision and everyone is painting the entire league and it’s players with those two brushes.
I definitely think there are trends that have likely staying power, and maybe this is one of them. But the idea that because Paul George demanded a trade with two years left, that every star going forward is going to follow his model is silly, and the notion that existed prior, that was said to be the way of things forever, was undercut by the very people they are pointing out as justification to say everything will be this way forever now. Seems more reasonable to think that within the next 6 years different trends and factors than the most current one will be of import.

This was such a throwaway aside comment and had nothing to do with the Pelicans, more about how the NBA has become travel ball, and he's not a fan.

1. There is a Politics page yall can bring that crap over there. We talk about ball here.
2. Bill is just stating that the players dont stick around anymore. And i mean he is right. We are a long way from the Tim Duncans of the world. I mean Kawhi just leave a great organization great culture great town who just won a chip...because he wanted to go home. KD just left the greatest dynasty of this century...to play with Kyrie. These dudes move now and nothing you can do can keep them there.

It's not just Paul George though. It's been a trend for a while among the top players to use their leverage to get themselves to different teams.
Simmons is not the guy who's really thoughtful about it. If people are interested in "player empowerment" era, they should listen to the latest Lowe Post/Full 48 joint pod w/ Lowe, Beck, and Rachel Nichols.
Fascinating conversation about it and other things, especially because they get drunk while podcasting

Zion has a humble demeanor and is from a small city in South Carolina. He's a very good fit for New Orleans culture, and we have just as good of a chance to keep him long-term as any big city would.
And with all the young talent and draft choices that we have, the odds aren't bad that he'll not only be a Pelican, but playing in the NBA Finals in 5-6 years.
