FWIW, I don't agree at all, but a lot of people pay attention to Simmons, so I figured I might as well post this, since someone else would post it anyway.

I remember Monty trying to turn AD into a leader by making him do things like go to Summer League to support the new players. This team was not set up to win. They were set up to try and make lackadaisical star players start giving a frick on defense. Unfortunately when you have nothing to play for the vets that don't have one foot out of the league stop giving a frick too.

As much as people think SVG was a mistake because he's a retread, I don't think anyone else is squeezing any more defensive effort out of these kids. And I say that as someone that wanted Stackhouse to be the coach hoping he could reach Ingram. To me the question is when do you determine that this defense first mission, much like turning AD into a leader, has failed, and lean back into the offense?

I think some of the in game coaching has left a lot to be desired.

However, I don't think anyone can deny how our young players have developed. Point Zion, NAW and Hayes have gotten better, plus we found a hidden gem with Naji and hopefully Gabriel

Edit: My point is if SGV cant win, hopefully he can setup the next coach into winning

Simmons is 100% right, and I can't stand Bill. This hire never made sense. What did he do in Detroit that made any sense in him getting the job here?

SVG is definitely closer to being the worst coach in the league than he is the best.

The only 2 guys that I can even think of off the top of my head that are similarly bad are Luke Walton and Lloyd Pierce (who was already fired). Not sure who INDY’s coach is, but they kind of suck too as they have underachieved as well.

Stan is worthless. Dude tweets 40 times a day about prison reform, etc....but hasn’t earned it like someone like Pops.

I don’t care about his politics, but it’s legitimately not a good look.

When you’re the Pels, and literally no one with a pulse wants to coach here because of the historic ineptitude, u wind up with sad hires like this over and over.

Lol. He didn’t. He was done. But the pels were so desperate, they brought him out of retirement.

Stan is a decent interview. He sounds like he knows what he is talking about and can probably connect with with management better than he can with players. He definitely wasn’t our first option. Considering Doc or Lue didn’t want to come here, I would have gone after a young hungry up and comer, vs a retread.

Look, I'm not a huge stan apologists, I have a lot of issues with his offense not having an answer to a simple zone d, all the bad decision making, but a lot of this shite is on the players/Griff too, maybe even more so than Stan:

The Knicks game when he told them to foul and Eric didn't.

Hayes early in the season couldn't switch on defense. He looked awful.

BI is still terrible on defense

Zion not playing well on defense.

Griffin traded for Adams

The general lack of effort and bad decision making by Eric and Lonzo

JJ falling apart/Griff not trading him when he should have

Losing Josh Hart during the most pivotal part of the season

Not playing Kira and NAW enough is on Stan(a lot of that is JJ being terrible though)

Stan gets credit for point Zion, and some of his sets make sense unlike Gentryball, but we don't have 3 guys in this league that can hit 3s, which I feel like you have to have, and Griff gave him no league ready point guard.

It's a total failure on the front office if two of NAW Kira and Hayes and Naji don't turn into good starters/fringe all stars. And we still have 2 years before that happens.

Some people want to look at everything positive even when the writing is on the wall.

It ain’t positive.

I think Charles Lee would have made a great head coach for this young team. He’s young and can relate to the players and by all accounts he’s a great teacher too on the Bucks staff. Darvin Ham is another up and comer on that Bucks staff that I wouldn’t mind over 61 year old SVG. Just when I thought Griff was a good hire to change the franchise and then he goes and screws things up by hiring his buddy who anyone with eyes can see our players won’t relate to. I was never a fan of Gentry but I don’t see SVG as an upgrade to even him.

A lot of truth in your post. I refuse to give Stan Credit for Point Zion though. Zion has basically been playing point for 15 years (minus Duke a first year in the nba). Also, Griff gave a lot of hints both last hear and this year about them seeing Zion more as a point than a post player. Scooby Doo could’ve been the coach this year and we were going to see more of Point Zion.

Zion is so damn good in the post, off cut/curl action, and pick and rolls that I think the best way to play it is probably letting Zion play pure point 20-25% of the time. That way our offense becomes less predictable and easy to guard. If we come down and do the same thing 40 times in a row, the other team gets better at executing their wall defense. We have to keep the other team on their toes.

Clearly you do! Look what u latch onto.

If he posted about Mexico paying for the wall or second amendment rights after every game, it would be equally as off-putting.

Sorry, it’s just irritating to see this re-tread nobody for the last decade lose lose lose and then post 5 minutes after the game about politics. Like dude, ur seat is hot AF, or at least it should be! Again, it’s like he thinks he’s pops, but he hasn’t earned it.

Thank you for masking up, Bonkers119. We are all in this together.
