As of right now what percentage would you think Boogie will return next year?

I would say 90%. I can see a few situations where he bails, but so many things would have to happen. What I think is more likely is that he takes a shorter max deal than the 4 or 5 yr deal he is eligible for. Maybe a 2 +1.

I dont see him leaving. He realizes he and Davis are a monster tandem and all we're missing is some wing play.

0%. His agent said he wouldn't sign with a team if they traded for him. I have no reason to believe he was just bluffing. Cousins is the same situation as Hayward. He will have a half dozen teams offering him the max. Better teams, with stronger organizations in bigger markets. It is idiotic to let guys get to FA. The only benefit is maybe we can arrange a sign and trade. But that is a long shot..

You have 50 million reasons to believe he was bluffing. He was trying to kill the trade to force Sac to offer him the big new extension that he lost as soon as he was traded.

We have been over this and I don't understand how you don't get it. His agent said do not trade for my guy, cause you are killing his contract. If you trade for him, we will not re-sign with you and we will leave in FA. He told every team in the league that. But, NO trades for him anyway. Why wouldn't that agent be true to his word? Cousins already lost the contract he wanted. Why wouldn't he go where he wants and play for the best possible situation. NO has no leverage at all..

Because it's called a bluff.

Cousins loses even more money if he goes elsewhere.

Cousins also seems very happy, even when we're losing.

What happens though if we miss the playoffs and Cousins catches wind that due to mismanagement, we really don't have any credible avenues to get that upgraded wing and needed depth?

Just looking at the 2018 free agent landscape and I don't know what we hope to do unless another trade falls into our lap? Jrue's recent revelation he can't see himself ever being good enough to play point guard full time means you basically have to sign another point guard(or find a SG/SF like Harden that can basically play point). Likely bring back Rondo on a heavier contract. And there really isnt much in the way of affordable SF's hitting the market. Does Cousins want to put his body and frustration through the Pelicans grind for the foreseeable future? Does Davis's frustration boil over and send signals to Cousins? IDK, but if it were me I would have to strongly consider jumping ship if this season doesn't bear significant fruit. Given our record I'd say 50/50 right now. Which may seem like a cop-out but if you are the Pels, it isn't what you want to hear.

Did you seriously just use “why would an agent lie?” as your defense? The agent trying to stop a trade that loses him and his client a lot of money makes sense. Being vindictive after the trade happens and automatically turning down the most money you can get for spite makes zero sense.

Yes, why would he lie? He made a guarantee and I'm sure had Cousins' support when he made that statement. It's not being vindictive, he would be just living up to his word and it is going to be laughable when the Pelicans try to use their "max" value over other teams as a selling point. Sorry we cost you 30M, but we can give you 3% more than other teams for the next 4 years. That has to be better than living where you want or playing with who you want..
