I am. I want to keep good players that get better every year around. I guess most of you haven’t learned from the Harden/OKC situation. Harden had 16.8 pts and 3.7 assists in over 31 minutes a game. He averaged 10 and 12 points per game before that. Not saying he is Harden but that Zo is a player that has gotten better every year like Harden did. These are the players we need to keep around. Plus it’s huge that our superstars like him.

I’m with you! Lonzo is improving and is an ideal compliment to Zion. You don’t get rid of that in hopes of a younger guy developing into what you “think” you need

I am. I don't think we would have gotten a return for what he is worth. I honestly felt the same way about Jrue, although I understand there is an age difference and other factors. Lonzo really turned it up this year and also looks more comfortable/happy/ confident while doing so.

I'm not sure we will find another player in free agency who can play defense, shoot the 3, and facilitate like him for even 20-23 mil. I'd rather a slight over pay than be stuck with 2 older guys who average out to the same price and only have part of those skills.

Also if Kira and NAW continue to improve we can focus more heavily on defense at the SF and PF position which will help our team going forward.

I am very glad we didn't trade him. I love zo. He has progressed every year. Like someone else said, it's big that he is liked/loved by our two superstars.

Also, how many years now have we said we needed a 3 or 4

Isn't the issue that he doesn't want to be with the organization?

I'll reserve judgement until i find out what we passed up on at the deadline, and what happens in the offseason.

The trade deadline is not for us right now - mostly it’s teams looking to win now or hit the reset button.

We are neither. We can make all the moves we need to this summer that will put us in better position.

I’m glad they kept him personally and I hope they are able to extend him for a reasonable price. I’m way more up to speed on football roster construct and finances but Lonzo has improved his shot drastically in a seemingly short period of time with the Pels and he’s still plenty young. If these guys enjoy playing with each other as much it seems between insider buzz, coach speak, and player interviews, that seems like a decent catalyst for further development and chemistry building to me.

Also, I think having him on the Pels has changed my opinion of him immensely off the court lol. Dude’s dad is a tool even if he has good intentions for his kids, and it seems to carry quite a bit of criticism and pressure that is placed on Lonzo’s (and Melo/Gelo) shoulders.

I mean, I'm glad we didn't trade him for Satoransky and two 2nds.

I was hoping that we'd get a good offer for Lonzo and trade him, but we obviously didn't.

NolaJake made a good argument on the Locked On Pelicans podcast today that keeping Lonzo was the right move.

our superstars

zion not yet. # of followers is not how superstars are known.
some full season accomplishments first.
if you make a list that gives perspective.

mvp
DPOY
a championship or more than one finals appearance.
lead the nba in scoring, rebounds more than once or assists more than once.
some of that.
since zion hasnt done an 82 game season through no fault of his own, lets see how the pels do in the stretch run. 10th seems reasonable to hope for.
its possible that kira, naw and hayes show improvements and earn more time as part of a winning team.

ingram
not today. "most improved"
all star.
he shows signs but its stretch to think fans in other cities name ingram on their list of the nba superstars.
my list.
Giannis.
LeBron
curry
harden
kahwi
cp3
westbrook

injured list
kd
klay
Davis
its not an exclusive list but zion is not on it.
notice that Morant isnt on it. needs a regular form jumper. if he gets that he will be a top tier scorer and memphis is already a nice team with jjjr back. with a morant with a good jumper they would compete for championships.
if if if. there are no superstars on the pels.
not yet. zion and morant are box office.
they both make up for a lack of a pure jumper with athletic and pure physical gifts.

I'm mixed on it.

Not trading him means nobody offered anything significant, but I also don't want to pay him any more than 15 million per in the offseason, so it's likely I would let him walk.
