With the signing of deng And the rumored fued between him and butler I think he will be on the trade block soon.

If there’s a way to make his salary fit while dumping ajinca and solo it’s a no brainer right?

Send them solo, ajinca, and our first?
Throw in diallo if need be

Open to listening to better suggestions

I think Butler would be traded instead of Wiggins.

They just brought in Deng, Thibs wants to do things his way and that means Bulter, not Wiggins if you have to choose one. Butler would basically have to demand a trade for Thibs to trade him.

As for Wiggins, now that he's in the first year of a 5 year deal that averages $29 million, I would think his market would be pretty limited. You're taking on quite a bit of risk if he doesn't get much better. I would think a playoff team needing to jump up a tier or 2 would be the type of team to take that kind of risk. Pels/Blazers/Heat/Hornets would be the most likely to go after him. None of those teams have the assets to drive up the price too high, but they might be able to drive it up high enough that you have to include a Randle or Mirotic instead of Hill.

Hill/Moore/Ajinca for Wiggins seems like a bet worth making.

Randle/Moore/Ajinca and having Hill stuck on the books still plus taking on Wiggins' salary is a bet I have a lot less confidence in. Hill probably needs to play well enough to be tradeable for a move like this to work out.

There will be a superstarless team that will package a more worthwhile pick and package.

Looking at Atlanta, Orlando, Brooklyn, etc.

Sadly I agree. Butler is the much much much better player between the two, but Minnesota will trade Butler instead for whatever reason.

I honestly don't see how Wiggins makes us better.

He's not worth his contract.

He can't shoot 3's, and his FT% isn't good.
He is a terrible defender, despite playing for one of he best defensive coaches in the league.

That makes us no better on the court, and hinders our ability to make any potential moves in the future with his huge salary.

While he is obviously better than Solo/Ajina/whatever, he doesn't move the team to the next tier, and makes it harder for us to get better, so i wouldn't' even do that trade, which at face value sounds like a no brainer to do.

Moore provides more value to this team than Wiggins would, at $20M less a year.

The only trade I want to make with Minnesota right now is Diallo for Jones straight up.

each one of those teams has a better player already on the roster

Wiggins is nothing but a name at this point... scorer who cant really hit 3s, and doesnt provide much else

the Wolves are collectively terrible at defense. he is the godfather of modern NBA defenses, but not sure Thibs still gets that moniker given how poorly things have gone in Minnesota.

These are two different points. I disagree with you on point 1. Wiggins is not going to live up to his #1 pick status, but that doesn't mean he can't make the Pels better. he's still just 23 and has legit questions about his game and fit. yet he is basically Rudy Gay 4 years in. i've never been a huge Gay fan, but a guy like that would help the Pels right now

now Wiggins is definitely not worth the $$ the Wolves gave him and his deal would certainly cause problems for the Pels as they look to give Davis a supermax and retain Mirotic and/or Randle long term. not sure sacrificing one or both of those guys for Wiggins makes a ton of sense for the Pels

the thing with Wiggins is that i think his value is fairly low across the league due to his play and his contract. plus Minnesota is a bit of a shitshow right now organizationally. maybe a shite sandwich can get a guy like that. but his max deal is a huge issue and needs to be thought through completely

He has been discussed internally, and even if the Wolves only asked for Moore, Hill, and Ajinca, the Pels would say no.

Casual fans build a team by just acquiring talent and hoping everything else works after that. People who really know basketball know this doesn't work.

He would bring nothing to the team outside of iso and post scoring - two things the team doesn't need.

The Wolves would have to attach valuable assets to the Pels for them to even consider it. And they'd probably still say no.

His contract is one of the worst in the league at this point. Really awful.

I wish we could have Butler though.

Good, we do not need that contract for a player that really does not move the needle. Butler on the other hand...

I'd give a non-essential body part to get Jimmy Butler on this team

not really.
If he made $10M/yr, anyone would say sure, lets take a run at him and see what happens. No harm done most likely.
But making nearly $30M a year means you are now a tax team and have limited ways to make your team better. That's why he doesn't make us better.

There aren't many deals I woudln't make by trading away Hill/Ajinca without giving up a pick for someone making $20M+. Wiggins is one of them, Whiteside is another. Ryno another. WOuld be hard pressed to find anyone else.

The glaring need of a 3 for YEARS maybe blinded me a little and have me taking a shot in the dark just to get one but to say someone don’t know basketball when ur sitting behind a computer making a GUESS at what u think u know is a little harsh. I know one thing, he would be the best 3 on our team so how would that not make us better. His contract is the only thing you should ding me on. Now listening to all the replies I understand of how it would affect the mirotic/randle contracts in the future. It was a question and I see the no’s outnumber the yeah’s. On to the next SF
