On today's This Just In on ESPN, @_Andrew_Lopez told @maxkellerman that it is "highly unlikely we see Zion Williamson in this Pelicans-Suns first-round series.

Thank you for emphatically closing the door. Now we can move on.

If the bone hadn't healed I'm not sure he would be doing 5 on 5.

I guess its just a matter of the definition of "healed".

Almost a year? Sounds like might be permanent?

not bad..

Team confirms he's not going to be available without confirming it's because he's too out of shape

I find it strange too. This is local coverage, but Lopez does work for ESPN and we've seen the national TV crews manage to get little scoops that the locals don't get, so this might be info coming from the extra access ESPN would get.

Many NBA superstars have missed entire seasons and some multiple seasons with the same or similar injury.

This isn't uncommon.

If the bone still hasn't healed, then that is a major Greg Oden-type problem.

Hopefully they are just saying that to kill the hype of him playing, but even so, that would be such a dumb thing to say if it wasn't true.

thats the injury. Pretty sure it took embiid and Durant two surgeries to get right

I posted basically the same thing a week ago from Andrew Lopez and got my arse jumped. Hopefully you get a more positive reception and some folks on here come to the realization that he is likely not medically ready.

If the bone actually isn't healed to the me question is, why is Zion trying to play, and why isn't Zion having another surgery?

This feels like misreporting, or at least miswording. Oleh is pretty reliable, but can anyone find the actual clip to make sure the quote is right/in full context?

I think he prob had no idea what to say given the strangeness of the situation and he prob misworded it tbh.

How both the Pelicans and Zion's camp have handled this whole year needs to be in taught in college classes for aspiring sports information handlers on how not to do things.

So the foot bone is connected to the knee bone?

Good job.

why is everyone glossing over the "this series" part?

All I see in my head is "Zion Williamson on track to return in second round"

So a foot injury is the same as an degenerative knee issue?

Oleh is just quoting Lopez it appears. If it is still not healed after all this time, I wonder why a 2nd surgery was not done.

There is such thing as a degenerative foot injury.

Again, good job.
