Injury Update: Anthony Davis has been diagnosed with a left adductor strain. An MRI and further examination revealed no structural damage. Davis will miss tonight’s game against the Warriors and is listed as day-to-day going forward #Pelicans

That’s best case scenario. Luckily no structure damage.

The belief amongst the #Pelicans medical staff is the MRI results are negative. But the team wants to be completely thorough.

It is highly unlikely Anthony Davis misses an extended period of time. This is likely the best case scenario considering the optics of the injury.

the "belief" is they are negative. They either are or they aren't. which is it?

Wow, this is really a best case scenario. Great news.

With how silent they were, I was expecting some kind of doomsday scenario.

Reading MRIs isn't as exact a science as you would think. There is some room for opinion and subjectivity.

He needs to be in the lineup against the Wizards on 12/19. I have gone to the game with my nephew in DC every year since 2012 and we are 0-5 in that span.

So he isn’t out 3-5 weeks like another poster said. That’s good

Yeah, I've seen where AI is starting to get better than human radiologists at reading scans, but the figures I've seen are mid to upper 80%s for accuracy. That means about 15% of the time they're wrong every time. They should be overly cautious with time to heal if the think there's an issue they can't see.

Exactly. There are still many times where a Doctor either doesn't see anything or the MRI is inconclusive, and the patient is having pain they "shouldn't" be, so they have to basically go in and "open the patient up" to see what the heck is going on.

That is happening less and less as technology increases.

That's my understanding at least. Not a doctor.

well didn't know that, as i'm obviously not a doctor.

i'm sure if that's the case they will play it safe and he'll be out for a few games until he is absolutely 100% with no lingering issues.

While you deserved a downvote, I gave you an upvote because you made me lol.

And because I’m so happy I just upvoted every post in this thread, including my own.
