Jay Williams on ESPN

“Zion is a superstar. He will attract other superstars to New Orleans, he won’t need to go anywhere. He’s that good already.”

Colin Cowherd

“Zion needs to get out of New Orleans faster than Lebron got out of Cleveland. He should get out in year 5.”

Focus on the Williams take if you're a fan.
Focus on the Cowherd take if you're a realist.

The media pushing for small market teams to fail from the beginning, we may as well not have a draft and have a 10 team league.

Annoying.

Let’s hope Zion is more of a
Damian Lillard, Steph Curry, Dirk nowitzki Dwyane Wade (nearly)... than a Lebron James

It’s big market talking heads that put this kind of poison in players heads....he doesn’t “need” to go anywhere. He’s a player that already is gaining the type of gravity a superstar needs to attract free agents here.

And honestly, with the way we are building our team....if we use these draft assets to bring in another premium player, then we will start seeing players in the buyout market choose us to make a title run. I don’t see us going after any big free agents considering the cap situation.

Yeah, Dallas and Golden State were hugely successful franchises before Dirk and Steph.

Not saying they were, but they became winning franchises. But most importantly, they are not New Orleans

I understand that but the pelicans haven't been too successful with their last 2 superstars lol.

Maybe Zion is different and this current regime is too. Maybe they can create a winning environment and sustain long term success. I just don't know if it is a sure thing with this franchise. Next offseason might be the most important off season in a long time.

New Orleans is still a relatively young franchise. Those franchises were around for much longer, and had some previous success before their current winning seasons.
