Anyone here ever done Coachella out in SoCal?
Lineup this year is legit with Childish Gambino, Weezer, Ariana Grande, Kacey Musgraves, etc.

Obviously I would expect a lot of drugs, but any experiences y’all wanna share?

Dude I went to college with has DJ’d there a few times. I’m not into his music, but he does his thing.

Been many times, including the first year it started. Honestly, it was way better back then. Spring for the VIP tickets. It's usually super hot and you want to have some shade and quick access to drinks and non-shitty bathrooms. Rent a locker. Bring sunscreen, shades, and a light jacket for the evening, which often gets chilly.

No drugs for me. Just plenty of alcohol.

Lots of attention seeking women who call themselves "social media influencers" using it as a photo shoot

Is it true you can't just walk around with your drink? You have to be in a designated area to drink?

Does the VIP access have a separate area for you to stand for the concert, or does it just give you access to the better drinks, bathrooms, etc.?

I’ve been twice (2014 & 2015). I’m glad I went and it was a lot of fun. I wouldn’t go back though. After 2015, the lineup started shifting more and more towards pop. The grounds are beautiful and the people are what you would pretty much expect.

I went one of the first years they had it in 2000/2001. Janes Addiction, Weezer(Pinkerton), Paul Oakenfold, Fatboy Slim and a ton of other DJ heavy sets. It was a good time but well before Coachella became super popular.
What added to the experience was taking a TRAIN with two buddies. I think the ride was something like 27 hours. It’s one of those things that I hated at the time, but looking back was maybe more memorable than the show.
I would suggest to everyone young enough to travel to see your favorite bands with a group. Those are some of my fondest memories with my friends late high school through college.

Pretty sure it is. Apparently there are designated drinking areas and you can't buy more than 2 drinks at at time.

It's true, and one of my biggest complaints. It's pretty stupid, but they aren't set up well to police their drinking policy. From the beginning, I always said the organizers needed to take a cue from festivals in Louisiana.

If I remember correctly, it’s all Heineken too except for at the craft beer tent

Yep, that's right. It was mostly Heineken but for maybe one or two craft beer tents. I don't like beer, so it was even more of a PITA for me because I was getting cocktails. Basically, fewer booths for me. The VIP helped with that.

I honestly don't know much about the past two years and this year. Maybe things are better/different now.

Last few years, I've gone to Bottle Rock (NAPA) and Hangout (Gulf Shores) and found myself enjoying those festivals much more. YMMV

Back in 2001 before it became what it is now. It was pretty shite back then too, but for different reasons. Though To be fair I’m just not a fan of festival shows in general.
