Curious if anyone has made the switch and their thoughts after living with it for a while. Our cable bill is outrageous, YouTube offers the channels we watch, it is significantly cheaper, and so far I’m sold using the free trial.

So what am I missing?

Following. Just lost Uverse discount. In looking around, I am thinking of going to YouTube TV.

Probably not the right board, but I’m thinking of coupling it with AT&T fiber optic. Again much cheaper, supposedly better and faster, and the top plan come with HBO Max free. Our cable bill with internet has gotten well north of $300/month. It’s outrageous.

We’ve had it for almost two years with almost no issues. If they do, it happens to everyone and they fix it within minutes.

We love it. No buffering, great picture, unlimited DVR. They’ve had a few price hikes, not sure how many more I can take though.

I hear you but as of right now, it’s almost 1/3 of my cable subscription.

I will never ever play more than 150 a month for tv and internet. after years of arguing with att on uverse prices year after year they told me to pound sand so did direct tv for a year. price hike, i argued, they kept it the same for one more year. After this year i'll probably get screwed again and go something else.

I had direct tv for two years after I built my new house. It was cheap for one year. Not so much the second. I just switched this month to YouTube tv and added showtime and HBO. No complaints yet. I especially like not being tied to cable boxes. We have 6 TVs so I can now watch cable on all of them

It’s good. You can share up to five separate accounts on it each with their own DVR. If you travel, you can have access for up to three months before needing to return to your home broadcast area.

Never had any real issues with it though the price has gone up recently. They really need to allow you to ala Carte channels though. They’d get more subs.

How does it work if you have homes in two different areas? For instance my folks have a home in Houston and a condo in Baton Rouge. They pay two different cable companies. I’ve been trying to convince my dad to make the switch but they watch local news in both cities. Would it switch between Baton Rouge and Houston based on where they watch? Or would it just be Houston? I know they could get a digital antenna for BR if needed but just curious how YouTube TV itself handles that.

its one account

I went to Utah for work, stayed at an AirBnB. they had a roku on the TV.

Logged into youtubetv on it and watched “my” youtubetv in utah. while my wife in houston and my daughter in austin used the same account at the same time in three different locations

So you got local Houston news in Utah? It didn’t pick up via VPN that you were in Utah and gave you local Utah news?

Mhmm. That might be a question for their support team depending on if you mean can their home be both areas. Here’s what happens, I think. Basically the area you sign up in I think ends up being your home network area. When you travel, you’ll take on that areas local broadcast. So yea. When they switch they’ll get HOU local news if they’re there or BR local news if they’re there.

I think you might be able to stay on your “home” broadcast or update your location manually. I use my parents account and it’s weird. I’ll have their broadcast area through my Xbox and I’ll have out of state broadcast area on my iPad.

The fast forward feature seems to be a little awkward and difficult to use, but that’s the only functional issue I’ve noticed.

I just don't watch TV anymore. If I did, I'd probably subscribe to YouTube TV. I've used it in the past and never had issues with it.

It's the best of times and the worst of times. Before I get into the cons, we have had it for over a year now and despite the downsides still feel it is worth the value.

1.) The guide sucks. They know it, and they don't care. It is what it is.

2.) Some channel have have compression issues. Stats for Nerds can recognize 60mb/s and confirm 1080p output and it will still look slightly pixelated on some channels. It's compression related. They know about it but unlike the guide, they do care.

3.) Of you can watch things as VOD, do it. There are 0 compression issues with that playback, oddly enough.

4.) Overall experience quality can vary per device. They do not do a good job of standardizing the app across devices. The interface is always the same, but performance varies. All of my 2-3 year old Samsung TVs work flawlessly (the use the older Samsung OS). The YoutubeTV app on my new QN95A with the new Tizen OS freezes and needs consistent reinstalls to get it to open and play.

All of that being said, for us it is worth it still for the price.

Same here but have had it for a year and a half. When they went up to $65 from $55, we tried out Hulu Live and that was terrible. We couldn't switch back to youtube tv fast enough.

The main issue people seem to have with it is that they keep bumping the price up to the point that it’s basically the same price as some cable company plans, but if it’s cheaper than your current cable package then it’s a no brainer.

Just make sure your current internet plan has unlimited data.
