Yeah, anyone who doesn’t have him (Hartman) on their lists I just discount.

Phil was the every-man. Kinda like Jason Sudeikis.

Kevin Nealon filled that role too.

I'm not saying either was as good as Hartman. I just don't think he "stood out" so much as supported and made everyone else great. Thinking of him now with Dana Carvey in the Choppin' Broccoli skit.

You remember Dana the most, but he was excellent in it. I think there was a lot of that with Hartman.

I’m sorry to anyone who discounts Hartman…

That’s a worse entry than Fallon. Kattan is simply a scumbag who didn’t contribute to any character that wasn’t gay. And “Night at the Roxbury” Norm could have filled in well for that sketch. Chris Kattan just sucks and SNL alum hate him and why he didn’t get a career after SNL. At least Fallon is a nice, generous, and fun guy. Chris Kattan is just a fricking prick. Jim Bruer and Artie Lange on Norm vs Kattan and why Kattan sucks

I'd have to include the 2 guys who could do anything:

Hartman
Aykroyd

One guy who carried the show on his back:
Eddie Murphy (Kids today cannot appreciate how big a star he was in the 80s)

Gotta pick a lady between Gilda, Amy Poehler and Kristen Wiig. I'll go with Amy.

And in the last spot...there are just too many. Cowbell was genius. Ferrell.

A simple “I respectfully disagree with your opinion.” would have sufficed, but ok.

The thing is if you know what is going behind the scenes, it’s disgusting to bring up Kattan as one of the five best people in SNL history. Kattan is one of the worst people to ever be on SNL simply who he is as a human being. Ask Tracy Morgan about Chris Kattan, and he’ll go on a 20 minute rant on how big of a stupid prick this guy was and that he couldn’t write a funny sketch to save his life. Everything had to do with being gay. Norm was once asked if Chris Kattan ever impressed him, and he said he was dumbfounded when Kattan for the first time wrote a character that was heterosexual.

Didn’t say he’s one of the 5 best. Just one of my five favs. Suell Forrester makes me laugh.

I’m sure a lot of the people who entertain me are horrible people. I’m a pro wrestling fan, a lot of those guys are complete dicks and horrible people or at least were at some point in their life including my all time fav- The Heartbreak Kid Shawn Michaels. I’m looking to them for an escape from the day, not to be my brother-in-law.

Doubt I’ll ever get the chance.

Well, Norm can make his own top five favorite list. This one is mine and it has Chris Kattan on it.

The only way I could ever pick 5 would be to think about the skits I go back and watch the most.

Norm
Farley
Ferrell
Hartman
Murphy

Ana Gasteyer gets an honorable mention based on the fact I probably watch schweddy balls 30 times during the holidays every year

after that I’d go Akroyd, Murray, curtin and murphy

It’s Hartman, Farley, Ferrell.
After that we can discuss the other 2.
