lately i have been thinking back on the disaster of season 4 and was thinking it would have been best to just end it all at the point they shot john and tried to kill the whole family.
with very few exceptions, nothing that happened after that was not worth watching
i think john dying at that point was 1000x better than the stupid governor BS and spending 5 million on sick cattle so you dont lose $500k when a few die. and dont even get me started with the beth getting married BS
what say you?

Should've been a 1 season miniseries

Where does Beth Dutton's progression from season to season rank on the list of all time bad TV characters?
Has to be up there.

Thats basically how it was billed when it first ran.
The show premiered during the summer, which shows the network did not have big expectations, then it turned into a 15 mil viewers/episode gigantic hit, and everyone got greedy and kept it going when it never should have.
Taylor Sheridan also parlayed that sleeper success into a $150M deal with Paramount and began spamming content, and thus watering down his creative juices and made what should have been a 1 season mini-series into a 5 year shite show, that had nowhere else to go.
Classic case of dollar signs over common sense. That's why shows like Breaking Bad came out so well. They were designed from the beginning to have about 60 episodes and there was no pressure early on because it wasnt a hit until season 3 or 4.

At least 2 seasons ago. It’s turned into pure garbage now. The end began when Sheridan started devoting his time to the other shows.
The writing on Yellowstone just got flat out lazy. Like soap opera bad.

How about when they bombed a fricking building?
The national guard would have been on scene in minutes, but it's as if nobody seemed to really notice.

Just inject that horse footage directly into my veins!
I agree with others that it should have ended a couple seasons back and Beth is the worst character.

We all should’ve stopped the first scene that Sheridan shows up with his fricking spinning horses that he spends 30 mins an episode on

with all the warranted, justifiable criticism of this show, this is one I don't get. I don't remember more than a few minutes of Sheridan actually on a horse. I do recall the episode where they had the McCutcheons and horses like Metallic Cat in a scene that lasted about a minute. But I find bitching about "horse scenes" in a western a bit strange. Especially when

The last season has had lots of filler such as sliding their horses, or branding, or sitting listening to singing at the fair, or roping, etc. It’s a noticeable amount of every show.

At this point it's so bad it's can't miss TV.
Sheridan's character is even worse than Beth. Total stereotype and very poorly acted.

The bomb should have killed Beth and Dutton and his crew should have went scorched earth on everyone when they healed up after the attacks and ended it right there. It should have ended with John bleeding out and passing his hat to Casey or some corny stuff and then it'd allow for the sequels to have some decent room to grow
