Y: The Last Man
A disease breaks out that kills everyone on earth with a Y chromosome except for one man.

I just watched the first two episodes tonight. The first time in awhile I’ve watched a post apocalyptic type show and didn’t know where it was headed.

Good pacing, suspenseful and solid acting. I’ve never read the comic it was adapted from but I’ll have to check it out soon.

This may be a good one.

FYI, if you’re not a fan of women in power or transsexuals, you should probably steer clear.

I have some of the trade paperbacks but it’s been a long time since I read them. Excited about this series though.

Wouldn't most trannies be dead?
Also just watched the new Saved by the Bell
The "hot" chick is a Tranny. Crazy world.

When is this supposed to start airing?

First three episodes are up tonight.

It’s FX on Hulu. Should’ve mentioned that in the op.

transsexuals

You'll have to elaborate on this. I imagine this would become more popular in a situation where only women remain on earth.

Might be the only apocalyptic scenario where trannies or gay people surviving makes sense.

The comics were good, and the sjw rhetoric was not intolerable at all. Usually, the worst offenders were the bad guys. I have no hope that this series will be the same.

Through 3 episodes and no problems yet.

The transsexual moment was a scene related to...

****spoilers****

a transgendered man (I think that's how you say it when they used to be a woman) that is still alive but can't continue hormone treatments. So trans men survived because they don't technically have a Y chromosome. The plot point regarding the scarcity of hormone treatments also leads me to believe there won't be a proliferation of manly trans characters on the show.

I'll be honest. It confused me for a minute but it wasn't some heavy handed woke situation and once I figured out why a guy other than Yorick was alive, it didn't take me out of the show. I was fine with it.

the graphic novel series is one of my favorites I've ever read.

This isn't a SJW story at all. Pure sci-fi.

It's been a while since I've read them, but I recall it being political without being over the top with the rhetoric. I couldn't get into the series though, so I don't think I got further than about 10 issues. It was cleverly written from what I remember, but the real winner of the Brian K Vaughn catalogue is Saga. That's an absolute gem, and I would be completely on board with it getting a TV run.

I would expect only women to be in power if there were no men.

I would expect some sort of woke cancellation attempt on this show since he is the last "man" and is only a "man" because he has a Y chromosome.

re: Y: The Last Man
The premise is a little too far fetched for me. If all men just suddenly died, women wouldn't survive long. All of the power grids, sewage, infrastructure, agriculture, technology needed to survive are run by almost all men, These are fields women typically don't go into. Without power, food, or water, everyone's dead in a couple months. There's no YouTube videos to learn how to run society.

This is actually exactly what's happening in the first 3 episodes. I'm sure things will change somehow but, by the end of episode 3 you would think this was a very limited series.

The introductory paragraph of the graphic novel literally covers exactly this, with data to back it up.

The graphic novels is one of my favorite reads of all time. I've re-read it about a dozen times.

I watched the first episode and I enjoyed it. Of course they gave Beth the woke-recast, which annoys the shite out of me, but it's to be expected.

The funny part is woke twitter is big mad that the last man on earth is a straight, white male. So no one can ever win

We'd win if we ignored them but most of you won't. Your comment about woke twitter is a good example of that.

Why do you care what those twitter accounts are pretending to be "big mad" at?

Using Twitter for a gauge on reaction to anything is pointless, it’s a cesspool.
