People saying that Sophie Turner is unattractive need to get their heads examined. She’s also not a terrible actress, she was quite good at the end of GOT. People latch onto her early GOT stuff, but she was supposed to play a brat. If you watch any interview with her, you know that her personality is not bratty at all. Have they rushed the new crew of X-men? Yes. Doesn’t mean that Sophie Turner sucks though.

RT critics' score for Godzilla = critics are snobby and stupid

RT critics' score for Dark Phoenix = a confirmation that movie is shite and Sophie Turner can't act.

It can't be both
Yes, it can be, and it is (although I'm not going to bag on Sophie Turner, I haven't seen her in enough roles to determine if she can act or not).

Godzilla got bad reviews because the story was shallow and had plot holes. Fine, but that's missing the big picture- it finally gave us iconic monsters portrayed with cutting-edge effects, the Godzilla we always wanted to see, the one we imagined while watching the guy in the suit kick cardboard miniature cities down. Transformers teased that, Pacific Rim teased that, but they aren't Godzilla. This was the real deal.

Re Dark Phoenix: we're well past that point on the superhero films. Marvel just gave us a decade long story with character development; simple spectacle no longer suffices.
It sucks because there was such potential, with First Class. Fassbender and McAvoy gave the franchise 2 stars as good as any you could dream of. They deserved better stories.
Hitching their cart to Lawrence was the worst move they could do with this series, and it shows now.

They didn’t really hitch their wagon to her as much as they brought her up to par with Xavier and Magneto. That kind of dissipates in this movie though.

Was planning to see this just because I felt I had to since I had been with the series since the first X-Men. Even "suffered" through Last Stand and Origins (they were messed, but each had some moments). Everything I am hearing and reading is that this is by far the worst if the Fox offerings. Looks like a hard pass.

It’s not First Class or DOFP, but it’s definitely not Origins or TLS either. Guess it really boils down to how much you enjoy Sophie Turner. Her acting is better than in GoT but then again she basically play two one-dimensional characters in each half of GOT.

Is it a great conclusion? No. Is it the worst X-Men movie ever? Not even close.

I saw it. It wasn't "bad" by any means, it was just meh.

I looked at it like a Summer pop corn type movie. It was nowhere near as bad as Apocalypse though.

This movie was great. The reviews are completely wrong.

No... a lot of the reviews are spot on. The dialogue was terrible for the most part.

It's what happens when one of your female characters becomes popular for other reasons. Then you try to build your franchise around them.

How many times is Hollywood going to regurgitate that same plot over and over and over?

It was a bad, poorly developed movie.

There are a ton of possible X-men stories already in comics that don't involve the Phoenix. That being said, the could also be creative and just write something for the actors and be creative.

Pulling a Mulligan on the Phoenix story was a creative fail on many levels. The best scene was the the end with Fassbender and Mcavoy playing chess.. that's the only scene that resonated with me.

Why the hate for this movie? Does it not relate to the original comics? Is it the acting? What?

So if I can enjoy Transformers for what it is, I'll be fine with this movie?

Simon Kinberg takes responsibility for Dark Phoenix’s failure

Good on him. The Disney merger and Kevin Feige saying it’s all pointless didn’t help him.
